Sony rear projection tv picture going on and off

Sony kds-60A2000 rear projection tv picture going on and off every minute or two. It appears that the lamp is turning itself off - no indications on the front panel or that the lamp is old. I've taken the lamp out, cleaned the connector and reseated it - no difference.

5 flashes - Lamp Driver - (lamp driver faulty)

This is the error code that usually means the ballast (it is the power supply for the lamp) is bad.

The most common cause of picture disappearing and returning in a Sony LCD Rear Projection TV is a faulty bulb. Replacing the bulb is the first step in troubleshooting this type of problem in KDS-60A2000 and all other Sony Rear Projection LCD TVs.

you have to replace the bulb what happening is the life hours on the bulb is almost over just replace the bulb soon or later you will see a red flashing light sometimes that's indicating the bulb needs to be replaced
