Where is the eject button for a kitchenaid superba water filter?

I have found the water filter in the grille of this side-by-side refrigerator, but can't pull it out, and the manual says there is an eject button. I don't see anything besides the filter head behind the grille.

I went through this same thing! You probably can't find an eject button because there isn't one on the model that you have. It probably isn't turning because it's just stuck and you have to just have confidence that you're not breaking it and force it to the left - all of a sudden, it will "pop" and turn easily.

Here is a great link to show you the different types of Kitchen Aid refrigerator filters - which kind has an eject button and which doesn't:

http://kitchenaid.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/149

I also found a great (and short!) video from Kitchen Aid that really helped me see how to do it. Try this one - I thought it was the best:

http://www.kitchenaid.com/content.jsp?sectionId=852

Finally knowing there wasn't an "eject" button saved me many hours of looking, and the tip about using the handles of the plyers worked great.

It is really discouraging to think you can't just screw out a water filter, but it isn't you. The directions are misleading - they don't match what you're seeing, and it doesn't twist out easily - it has to be forced....and THEN it twists out easily.

Hope this helps. It worked for me when I'd completely given up.

Best of luck!

Eileen

I tried all the solutions listed to no avail and didn't want to break my refrigerator trying to pry it out. As I was replacing the filter and thus didn't need to keep the old filter, I drilled a small hole, threaded a screw and pulled out the stubborn filter with pliers.

What is the model number for the water filter for the KitchenAid #KSRG25FKSS16 refrigeator and where is it found in the refrigerator? thank you.

Hello pssutherland,

I understand that you need to locate the water filter on your KitchenAid fridge. The water filter is located at the bottom of the fridge in the grill. There is a eject button that you will need to press next to the water filter in order to get it to release.
1. Press the eject button
2. pull the filter straight out
3. Remove the cap by turning it clockwise (you will need to install this on the new one)
4. Reinstall the cap on the new filter
5. Push the filter in until the eject button pops back out.
6. Purge the system run three full glass of water thru the water dispencer and throw away.
7. You are done

Water filter does not eject when button is depressed.

I just had the same ting happen to me. You need to leave the cover to the water filter (it is the black plastic cover that is part of the grill) is still connected to the filter. After depressing the eject button, this cap helps to pull out the filter. DON'T throw away this very important part, other wise it is impossible to get the filter out. Once you eject the filter, some water will leak from the filter. Just put it in the sink to drain for a while.
