Tuners can be matched with one another. But, you should check it for pin compactability and the number it has. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

I have a General Electric Model: 27GT620 TV circa 1998; the cable connection has become loose and has caused the picture to go from picture to snow; originally we could "wiggle" the male...

Yes, you have a bad ground on your RF connector. With lots of patience, it can be repaired. You must remove the tuner shields from the TV. It will need to be unsoldered. Pull the shields off either side of the tuner. Donot even attempt to move the red coils you see in the tuner. If the red coils look bent or smashed it is for good reason. Do not bend or move these. I cannot say enough about these. Next you will solder the Rf connector and the tail that is is still connected to the tuner board. Inspect all the solder connections on the solder side of this tuner on board. There are about twenty bad grounds. You will have to really concentrate and excercise great caution to solder. Be careful not to burn any traces on the tuner board. Patience is a virtue here, any mistake may destroy your TV. After careful inspection and soldering you may resolder the tuner shields. If you feel you must replace the Rf connector that part is an RCA #215543. Remember it will take more than replacing this connector, to fix the snow you receive on the TV. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.

Sometimes the color stays, sometimes the picture is in black and white?Sony WEGA Trinitron with TimeWarner cable box.

that problem is very common in a sony TV the main cause of that problem is the video IF.you can replace it with a new I.F. just adjust the I.F. to do it open the back cover of your tv.you can see the tuner soldered on the pc board.using a soldering iron and a desoldering pump take out the tuner from the board..remove the stainless covering of the tuner and soldered it again to the board there are two IF(intermediate Frequency) on the tuner the sound I.F and the Video IF.After soldering the tuner to the board power on the tv and use a plastic jewelry screw or an alignment tools then turn clockwise/counter clockwise gradually and slowly untill you reach a good signal...be carefull when adjusting not to touch with your hand the high voltage section...good luck hope I helped you Please vote for my help.

Hello the connector on back of my tv came loose how can i diy

You need to remove the tuner from the main circuit board, resolder the cable connector to the metal tuner case, and resolder the connection inside the tuner from the connector center tab to the tuner circuit board.

Removing the tuner requires "solder wick," a copper braid that soaks up the solder as it melts so it can be freed from the board.

Resoldering the connector to the tuner case requires high heat from a soldering gun to get it hot enough fast enough to make the connection. A regular soldering iron won't do the trick.

If the connector has been broken off completely, replacements are available from a couple of on-line vendors (I use a company call MCM Electronics www.mcminone.com.)

If you are not comfortable with electronic soldering and working on TV's, you might want to get an estimate from a shop for this repair. It should be under $100, depending on the shop's rate.

Tv repair

No instrution sheet that I know of. Those "F" connectors are most of the time part of the "tuner", if so just take off the tuner (unsolder it) and pop off the two sides of the "tuner can" and straighten the "can". Take the "F" connector with a small screw driver and scrape the side of the connector to make it shinny and so the solder will stick to it, and do the same to the "tuner can". Use a good hot iron to solder it back on. Do NOT get the "F" connector so hot that the inside of the connector will melt. The center conductor of the "F" connector will have to be soldered back into its hole as well.
