I have a radio/cd player, model WR3 that rejects inserted cds many times before playing them. Lately it won't play cds at all. How can I fix this?

SOURCE: CD Player Does Not Read CDs

Hi As you describe the problem, there are three likely possiblities, either the laser lense is dirty, the laser is beginning to fail, or there is a dead spot developing in the spin motor. Cleaning is the first step, and the least expensive...If you have some electronics experience, they are not difficult to clean, but you must expose the laser to do it, and I don't want to advise someone to do that, and forget to unplug the unit. It's free laser eye surgery, but I doubt you would be happy with the results. I would advise you to call around to local repair shops, and see what they charge to check it out and/or clean it, and then descide if it is worth proceeding. Hopr this helps, good luck!

SOURCE: The CD player in my Pure Legato 2 system won;t

I have fixed this problem in 2 Legatos. But don't attempt this if you have no experience with electrical equipment.
You need to open the case (4 screws deeply recessed in the back panel, 3 screws securing the speaker terminals and the phono socket block, and the nut and plastic washer holding the aerial socket. Gently ease the rear panel back enough to access the rear of the CD mechanism. Under the CD laser assembly carriage, there is a small trim pot (with a yellow cross-head adjuster screw). I found a small anticlockwise adjustment got the CD player working again. (I assume this trimmer increases the gain of the optical sensor amp.) Secure the rear panel before powering on again to test. It may require a little trial and error to recover the full functionality of the CD.
Good luck.

SOURCE: jvc kd-sx770 car stereo--radio works, but cd player doesn't

I'm having the same issues w/mine. I've cleaned the connections between the system & the faceplate & tried the reset button but neither seem to work. As for running a cd cleaner disc thru the system.. it treats it the same as a normal cd.... 3 to 6 seconds after inserting it, "please eject cd" pops up on the screen... it's annoying as anything

My Sony CDX-M610 will play radio but not CDs

THE CDX-M610 LIKE ALL OF THE CDX-M630, M800, M850MP SHOULD ALL SIMPLY START TO PLAY THE CD WHEN INSERTED. BECAUSE YOU ARE ABLE TO TUNE RADIO STATIONS AND HEAR THEM PLAY SHOWS THAT YOU HAVE EVERYTHING IN PLACE AND ARE DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT. SO IF IT IS NOT PLAYING, THEN IT WILL NEED TO BE SERVICED. AS FOR THE REMOTE, IT IS NOT REQUIRED OF ANY OF THE CD PLAYERS IN ORDER TO PLAY CD OR TUNE RADIO STATIONS. RATHER THAN INVEST IN REPAIRING, I WOULD LOOK FOR ANOTHER MODEL ON EBAY USED AS IT WILL PROBABLY GO PRETTY CHEAP. ALSO HAVE CHANCE TO GET A HIGHER MODEL LIKE THE ONES I MENTIONED ABOVE. I HAVE SEVERAL OF EACH IN MY COLLECTION AND THERE ARE NICE PLAYERS. OK. HOPE THIS HELPS.....V

Replaced battery and cd will not play and will not reject my CDs

Take out the fuses that go to your cd/player. Start the vehicle, the radio/cd will not come on. Shut the vehicle off and replace the fuses. Start the vehicle again and you should hear the cd player cycling through the cds. Be patient and let it go through the process. Hope this helped. Mike

We can't get the factory 6 disc cd player to load more than 1 disc. What is the sequence for loading additional discs?

The following is the owner's manual for your 2004 Dodge Neon:

http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/manuals/index.html?year=2004&nameplate=Neon

P.99 describes how to load discs:

1. Select and press any numbered button without an illuminated light above it.
2. Insert the CD while the light above the chosen button is flashing and the two lights on either side of the slot are illuminated.
3. Upon insertion, the CD will begin to play, and both the button light and the lights in the corner of the loading slot will illuminate.
4. Repeat the process for loading any additional CDs. The CD playe rwill stop while additional CDs are loaded.

Playing Discs
The radio will show the CD number, the CD track number, and the Track Time Elapsed while the radio is in the CD mode. IF more than one CD is loaded in the changer, the changer will automatically play the next disc after playing the last track of the current disc.

Wow, that's a lot of typing.
I didn't know the 2004 Dodge Neon had such a nice changer.
Good luck.

My front loader reads disc error or unplayable no matter what disc I insert. It worked just fine for about 2 years. It doesn ot get heavy cd use, but everyday radio/alarm use.

To resolve this issue, try one or all of the following:
  • The Wave® music system is designed to play commercial CDs, CD-Rs, MP3-encoded CDS and CD-RWs. If your system has trouble playing MP3 CDs, make sure the discs were recorded with compatible formats. See Cannot play MP3 CDs

  • The system may not be able to play certain CD-RW discs. Playability is dependant on how the disc was recorded, including the format it was recorded in and the actual disc used for recording.
Note: iTunes defaults to AAC as the encoding format. In order to use iTunes to make CDs that will play on the Wave® music system, you’ll need to change the format to MP3 How to Choose Import Options

  • Different brands of CD-Rs and CD-RWs use different materials which may affect the ability of a player to read them. If you are burning your own CD-Rs or CD-RWs, experiment with different brands of discs

  • If a commercial disc won’t play, check for scratches, fingerprints or other physical damage. Try the CD in another player. If it still won’t play, there may be a problem with the disc

  • Reset the system by disconnecting the power cord from the wall for one minute, then plug the system back in

Car Radio Rejecting CDs

I had a simular problem ,the only thing you might try is a cd cleaner disk that has a little brush on it. might be a dust build up on the optical eye. or it just worn out. the optical eye in my opion is sensitive and hitting big bumps with a cd playing might throw it out of whack...they can make like a little bluetooth or cartridge that holds all of any music cd or 30 cds....it would be pure electronics...but i guess it compares to oil co. that wont put out the electric car..jobs and money is what its about. you get my point.
