I need a code for a Magnavox universal remote for a Mintek DTV 253D DVD TV. I've tried everything I have found and none work. Please help!

Have tried the remote, most new tvs have a control panel lock that can accidently be activated, it usually takes the remote to undo the lock.

The Magnavox 27mdtr20/17 is a standard def. television produced in 2003 by the Philips-Magnavox Corporation. This particular model was conceptualized long before DTV was an option, and much further before Digital Television Broadcasts were considered a viable option for our current current communications problems.

You will need a DTV box IF:
A) You use an antenna (roof top or otherwise) to watch television

You will not need a DTV converter box IF:
A) You subscribe to cable services, either analog or digital
B) You subscribe to satalite services

You most likely will not be able to find a code for it because it is an off brand (not-so-well known brand) and most universals will not have codes for that brand. if your universal remote doesnt have codes for the Mintek brand or has them and they dont work then, sorry that remote will not work for you. you will need to try and get a different one. or try and get the original remote. you can try finding the original remote at ReplacementRemotes.com by typing in the model of the Mintek DVD player. or you can try Ebay.

i can not get my tv to pick up a signal.I know my antena works i have tried it on other tvs.Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

20839 is the DirecTV & Access HD universal remote code for Mintek, Shinsonic, & US Logic. None of which brands are listed in my Yamaha RAV283 remote code list (uses 4-digit codes).

20717 is also listed for Mintek by DirecTV. Other brands with the same code on DirecTV remote are: Apex, Blaupunkt, GE, Greenhill, Initial, KLH, Nesa, & RCA.

Of those brands, only Apex & RCA are listed in my Yamaha remote's list. I tried all of the codes for those 2 brands under types DVD, DVD Recorder, DVD/VCR, & TV/DVD. None worked. It appears to me that only those 3 brands for 20839 share the same remote code settings. If your remote doesn't support any of those 3, I doubt you will be able to use that particular remote with the Mintek DVD-1600.

Most universal remotes will work for about any TV. Have you tried one???

As far as I know, no regular universal remote will work with the mintek TV/DVD's.
I have heard that the "Kameleon" remote, from radioshack works with them.
I had the same problem, so I ordered a replacement original remote from ebay for $20. It was the RC-600 for mine (DTV-265 26" LCD/DVD)
