LG Flatron L1951S-SN 19" LCD Flat Panel Monitor Logo

My monitor is going into digital power save mode. I have plugged in the monitor to a different computer and it works fine. I have also replaced the video card. I have made sure the screen saver etc. is set to never. How do I determine what is wrong if I can't see anything on the screen? Thank you for any help you may be able to offer.

Are you sure someone hasn't changed the power setting in windows. I've seen similar tricks pulled by so called mates. :-) If windows is OK then check the manual for the monitor and if you still can't crack it take it for a ride to the repair shop. It is under warranty after all. BMW

SOURCE: Analog Power Saving Mode

Right click on your desktop>Properties, then click on Screen saver tab, then at botton of the box you should see 'Monitor Power'. Click on 'Power' then Power schemes tab. Look at 'Turn off monitor' and set to 'Never'

SOURCE: digital power saving mode

check your monitor power settings.

right click on your desk top then left click on 'properties' in the white box that appears.

this will bring up a 'display properties' box which should have a tab headed 'screen saver' amongst others.

select the screen saver tab.

in this tab there are 2 sections. one to select which screen saver you want to use (and what settings are applied to it), and another section which should be called 'monitor power'.

click the button here which says 'power...' to adjust your power settings.

in the next window there are 4 tabs. select the first tab (power schemes - which should be already selected by default) and you now have 4 options. leave the selected 'power scheme' in the top of the window as it is and just alter the settings for the selected power scheme.

your 4 options are: 'turn off monitor', 'turn off hard disks', 'system standby' and 'system hibernates'  i would recommend setting all of these to 'never', and don't forget to click the 'apply' button after you've done this.

i would also recommend disableing hibernation in the 'hibernate' tab (this is in the same window as the power schemes tab).

once you've adjusted your power settings, don't forget to activate one of your screen savers.  this is only important if you leave the monitor on for a long time with no changes taking place in terms of what is being displayed. if you leave a static image on for hours you will end up with permanent screen burn. (a ghost image that is always there - even when the monitor isn't switched on!).

i don't bother with screen savers personally as i find them annoying, and find it much easier to simply turn the monitor off whenever i'm not going to be using it for the next hour or more.

hope that solved your problem. apologies if it doesn't.

by the way, the tabs etc i described are what i have on my OS (windows XP pro) and may be named differently if you're using a different version of windows.  the 'power options' settings will still be accessible via 'screen saver' tab in desktop properties though.

good luck!

:o)

Did you check the energy saving settings for the monitor
The display settings in control panel should have a tab
for screen saver that also has settings for the monitor
power saver setting. If there is a setting for Digital Power Saving mode adjust it or disable it.
If this does not solve the problem then you may have to
disable APM in the bios setup

Computer screen goes into "digital power saving mode"

You should be able to adjust the settings on the monitor to prevent it from going into power save mode, or at least to delay how long it takes before it goes into power save mode. Press the menu button and look for settings that might disable or change power save mode.

Also, does your desktop/PC display show anything before the monitor goes into power save mode? If nothing comes up, its possible that you have a loose VGA connection or that your video card/motherboard are defective in some ways. Try using a different monitor.

If the other monitor works fine with your computer, try changing/lowering the screen resolution. If in XP right-click on the desktop and go to Properties, and select the tab for display settings and adjust the resolution. If in Vista/Win7, right-click the desktop and select Screen Resolution/Display Settings and adjust it there. Then check and see if your newer monitor works on it.

If the other monitor also doesn't show any display, most likely the problem is either with your video cable or your PC's video card/motherboard, not the monitor.

Hope that helps. Good luck

Monitor stuck in power saving mode

If the monitor goes into power saving mode as soon as you turn your computer on then maybe your graphics card is only half-way in and not secured properly. I would first recommend plugging in a different monitor if you have one, if it doesn't get any signal either then read on. I had this issue, basically a couple screws need to be put back in because they have fallen out. The graphics card was only partially plugged in and the computer would run but not "communicate" with the monitor. If you are unsure how to do this then I recommend taking a trip to your nearest IT shop, the job takes only about 1 minute so you should have your computer back quickly. Hope this helps,

Unplugged monitor at one location and moved to a different location and the monitor will not work..... Tried a different monitor into the same PC and it worked fine. Viewsonic continues to go into power...

Sounds to me that it's a resolution problem. I think that the previous monitor that was hooked up to it last had a different resolution.

That or try restarting, it may need to install a driver.

How do we turn off the POWER SAVING MODE on the monitor screen?

Try going into your Start Menu then going into your control panel...then clicking on your "power options"....then switching the options to 'always on'..if this does not work..(as it seems you may not be seeing this because the monitor is in power saving mode) try fiddling with the setup option on your monitor and find a possible powersaving mode enabled function and disable it. every monitor is different so I couldn't really help you here...if this doesn't yield results try another monitor to see if it's the monitor having the problems or the computers video card...the video card could very well be the culprit...

Computer monitor comes on for 1 seconds, flashes "analog power save mode" and then goes black.

Most monitors will say "Power save mode" when they can tell through residual voltage that the signal lead is plugged into a machine, but there's no picture being transmitted. The four states of a monitor are:

* Off entirely.
* Switched on, plugged into a computer but no video signal being received - usually displays "analog power save mode" or "digital power save mode" for a few seconds, then blanks. Comes back to life the moment a video signal is received. This state is the default in full power saving mode.
* Switched on, not plugged into a computer. Some monitors don't display anything, some go into power saving mode, some fly "CHECK SIGNAL CABLE" or a similar message around the screen. Picture is restored when the signal cable is plugged back into the computer
* On fully, receiving an image, and displaying.

Hope this helps.

Monitor automatically clicks into power saving mode

Laptops often have a function key which switches from laptop only, external monitor only, laptop & external. One of the top number keys, along with the function (fn for short) must be pressed simultaneously to step through these.

Where these keys are at, may differ from laptop to laptop.
