When you turn the freezer to the highest setting you block the air vent going to the fridge keeping the colder in the freezer
Try turning the fridge up
Clean underneath vacuum
Set a good thermometer inside the freezer and check temp 0 to ,5f
How long is this been the issue?
If you have an ice maker the production might slow/low as well
Also real cream won't freeze very well
Any control change allow 24hrs

First thing is to vacuum all the fluff off the condenser coils. always a problem with air flow and high ambient temperatures in the summer. I did mine last week.

Soft ice cream is the best :>) Check the temperature inside the cabinet with a thermometer.

And finally, it that is minus 5 Fahrenheit, it may be too cool. If it is minus 5 on a dial where Zero is the median and there is a plus five as well, the PLUS side makes it colder.

You have a defrost condensate drain blockage where all the water from defrost remains inside the freezer compartment and causes the symptons you are having. I cannot tell you how to remove every model numbers freezer rear panel but I think that if you study over my link here=> Leaking Refrigerators and this link HERE you will get an idea of what to do. Ice block

There is some cooling in the freezer which is allowing the temp to raise above freezing for a brief period. Check gaskets and or the temp setting. Is ice cream hard or soft. Ice cream freezes at around 15-18 degrees. My guess is that the door gasket is allowing air inside the box.

We purchased the fridge in Jan a '11, today the freezer was not as cold as it should have been to the point the ice cream was soft. According to the manual, I increased the temp from 4 to 5. Since then...

The fan should run cotinously until either the temperature is satisfied or the unit goes into defrost.
Changing from 4 to 5 is not a way to determine the temperature, rather you should use a good thermometer. Look for 0*F.-5*F.

Ice Cream won't stay frozen it get's all soft and gross. Main things in the freezer stay frozen.

This is an easy one!!
Ice cream needs to be around -5 degrees to +5 degrees to stay frozen (or hard) if the freezer is at like 15 degrees the ice cream will be soft but the rest of the things like meat and ice cubes will be rock solid because anything lower than 32 degrees is freezing for those things. So you might wanna check to see if the fan motor is working and also make sure the condensor coil is free of debris.

Ice cream soft

Ice Cream is the hardest thing to freeze in a fridge /freezer unit , you need a least 0 deg F
to harden ice cream. If the ice cream was satisfactory before the repair and the stat is set to max. it is possible you have an over charger refrigeration circuit.

My ice cream won't stay frozen in my freezer.

Hi: Meat and other frozen foods will be rock solid at 32degrees. Ice cream will be soft it needs 0degrees to be hard. It sounds like your freezer is above 0 degrees. You tried the adjustments. Make sure the coils on the bottom are clean. They will warm a ref if they are dirty. A coil brush from the hardware store or a air compressor (plan on dusting the house when done. Just vaccuuming the front isn't enough. That's an older model but one of the controls affects both the freezer and fresh food. When it's running turn one down; if it turns off the compressor it affects both. The other control is just an air balance, to direct how much air gets to each compartment. I hope this helps, Jeff

Bottom freezer not keeping ice cream frozen

Check out freezer temp - should be around zero degrees. Fact that ice maker is still working would indicate that the temps are at least about 10 degrees. If the door seals are tight and the self defrosting mechanism is working properly, the unit may be low on refrigerant. I had similar situation where stuff was frozen but my ice cream was mushy even though unit was running 24 hours a day.
