Question about Retail Supplies

1 Answer

Hi, I found an old Casio CE4700 cash register and have taking it as a hobby to get it running. It's asking to "set pgm mode" when on reg1 and asking for the mac code when key is moved to PGM. It's not been active since 2009 so obviously the memory battery is dead. But I don't want to try replacing the battery untill I know it works. Would really appreciate if anyone can help with the Mac code? Thanks, John

I had two of these in my pub in England!

MAC Address Code is a unique identifier that identifies that particular register on a network. Your mobile phone also has one, look in Settings - General - About

MAC address - Wikipedia > wiki > MAC_address
A media access control address (MAC address) is a unique identifier assigned to a network interface controller (NIC) for use as a network address in ...

PGM is Program Mode, but you probably know that. Machines often have 4 keys. User, PGM, Y Key for reading totals, Z Key for clearing a days transactions. Cumulative memories stay forever unless you find the red reset button under the Enter or Cash Total key ?? Reg 1 and Reg 2 allows two cashiers to share a till.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the reply Andrew. :) I’ve found a code 103001 shared in other places that was derived from a work sheet in the program manual. I enter this and press Subtotal button twice. This should be working but isn’t. :( I’ll spend tomorrow trying other buttons incase it’s not the subtotal button that’s required."

Where can i download casio ce-4700 cash register manual french

This is an old model so you would have to find one that has been scanned in by a French speaker. Unfortunately, that will be nearly impossible to find. I found the English manuals if that helps:

That's not good. Your dealer should have set up all of the necessary system options in the machine when you bought it. Did you buy it new with your products entered by a dealer?

I cannot change the price for an item on CASIO TE-2400 register

Hi. I'm afraid this is not a 'basic requirement' of a cash register. You are working with a very complicated area of cash registers that only the medium to high end machines can even do. If you are getting stuck already, then you will not be able to work out the more complex batch processing areas of scanning either.
Your dealer should have setup the majority of this for you before you left their store (especially the keyboard layout issue and keysheet for the keyboard), then you would normally receive extensive training if you are going to be making program changes yourself in future.
You will need to learn about the difference between flat PLUs and scanning PLUs, 'Not found PLUs' like you have run into so far, then deletion techniques, PLU status programming, manual entry using OBR method etc. The book is only a guide to what you should have learnt during training. You really need to go back to the dealer and get a training session. They should be able to sort out all of these problems for you. It will take a one on one demo to fully train the ins and outs of full scanning systems.
