I had this happen with my TV about 4 months ago. Here's what I did that finally worked for me --- hope it will for you, too. My remote really didn't need new batteries but I I did that anyway. Then I unhooked everything from my TV AND unplugged it from the wall. Waited 20 sec, rehooked up everything and replugged into the wall, and there it was. Everything was back in order.

You probably have a shorted button on the TV itself. It's not the remote. Consult a professional TV technician to resolve this issue.

ONKYO TX-SR608 I need to have my volumne up over 40 to get any sound and around 55 to listen to my home theatre on 5.1 . Does this sound normal? Also, how can I view the volumne when using Zone 2? I...

Yes it is normal, the 608 is a THX certified receiver, so it goes by THX reference levels.

In theory once you have run the Audyssey auto-setup with the included mic the proper reference level for watching movies will be 82 if the volume number scale is set absolute or 0dB of it is set to THX relative. At this setting the volume should be the same as watching that movie at the theater. I have mine set to power-on at a level of -30dB which corresponds to level 52 on the scale you have it set to. This is a comfortable lowish level, but I turn it up to at least -10dB AKA 72 when watching movies.

Make sure your cable box is on and on a channel that you normally watch so that we know there is video being transmitted to the TV,then useing the remote that came with the TV press the button that is labeled " input" or " source" multiple times until you see a picture back on your TV screen. Good luck and Happy Holidays!
