Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

My i9900 canon has gone spontaneously from working fine to stubbornly "offline". I decided just to delete and reinstall it, but can't find the CD or its equivalent online. Any help please?

What OS do you have? Please add the update version for Windows 10. The drivers are still available from Canon here: for supported OS versions. It looks like the printer used Windows Update for to install most of the drivers under Windows 7. There is an optional update for the driver on the site but it doesn't work unless Windows Update installed the basic driver. The Canon didn't officially support the printer for any OS after Windows 7.

The Windows 7 driver worked under 8 (8.1) and some versions of Windows 10 for a while. (Under Windows 8, the ZoomBrowser software didn't work.) Then Microsoft became strict about not allowing unsigned drivers to install. The easiest solution is to find an old Windows 7 computer to connect to the printer. Alternatively, get an unused install license and build a virtual machine to connect to the printer. Note: recent cumulative updates for Windows 10 have caused issues with USB printers.

If you are using Windows 8 or 8.1, try connecting the printer via the USB port with the machine off. The restart the computer; make sure that the Windows Update is set to find updates for other devices (not just Windows). If you are using the printer over a network, some found using the Canon ProMark 9000 series drivers worked.

I hope these ideas help. I wish that I had better news for you about Canon support.

(Building a virtual machine OS depends on your CPU allowing virtualization and free memory. You also need the Windows Pro or Enterprise versions of the OS for Hyper-V (Windows 10) or the Windows 8 VM equivalent. Third-party tools for creating a virtual machine may work on the home edition.)

My canon i9900 is offline

It usually means that the printer is off, not connected to your computer or your computer does not recognize it. If your computer doesn't recognize your printer, go to control panel and click on add new hardware, then follow the directions . After trying all the above try using your printer once again.

Good luck!

I cannot get the power button on my Canon i9900 inkjet printer to turn the printer on. It is plugged into an active power source, but when I hit the on button, nothing happens. Does it matter that I have...

The most likely cause is the printhead has gone out. If you can get to it, you need to remove the printhead and try power again. If it comes on you need a new printhead, if you put the old one back in you could destroy the logic PCB.

My canon i9900 printer wont install on my Windows 7 computer. What to do?

Instead of trying to use the CD-ROM that came with the printer, access the manufacturer's web-site: and click "Support".

Find the latest device-drivers for your "i9900" printer that are compatible with Windows 7. Download them, and install them.

Vertical fine lines...

Don't have any idea but you might try this link. They have repair manual you can download.

It may be in the hardware and if it is you are talking a new control board. Does it print these lines if you print a self test page? If not you might try reinstalling the drivers. You might try different quality modes and see if that has a effect.

Hope some of this helps

Printer is offline to one computer but not other.

Ok what you need to do is network the 2 PC's together using a crossover cat5 cable ( can be purchased at Radio Shack). If you don't know how I can explain how to do that also.

Once that is setup one of the PC's with printer driver needs to be shared so the second PC can access. As long as PC 1 is on both PC 1 and 2 can print without issue.

I can be more specific if necessary

Hope this helps,
