My New whirlpool refrigerator is freezing my vegetables

not real certain about Whirlpool. I have a Maytag and the same thing happened to me. If you have an ice-maker, check to see that it is working. Sometimes and ice cube can get stuck and it doesn't produce ice. When that happens, the ice cold air can circulate through the refrigerator and freeze veggies. Hope this helps.

Do you have frost buildup on the rear wall of your freezer? What is the model number for your Whirlpool? It is important that you provide the model number so I can see what may be causing the freezing temps in the fresh food section/crisper. Thanks JT

I believe there is a air vent / hole .. if you remove the crisper drawer on left you should see a small mechanical vent if so close it.

you likely have a problem with your evaporator fan motor not blowing air throughout unit. when this fails, the cold temps fall towards bottom of both sides. You can reply here or send me a question from my website: www.FixMyFridge.net

I have Model ET8CHMXKQO-3 whirlpool fridge with the same problem. The problem I believe is due to the drain line to the tray that collects defrost water freezing up. Temporary solution is defrosting the fridge; permanent solution is running a thin wire thru the drain line that aparently prevents the condensing water from freezing. I am trying to find out how to install this wire and where to buy it.

Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

if you pull out the vegetable drawer, you will notice a vent on the left side in the back. get some tape ( I use aluminum tape ) and cover the bottom half of the vent, that will help keep your vegetables from freezing. that should solve your problem. Joe

if the vegetable drawer is closest to the coolant it could be because the refrigerator is turned up too high (too cold)
