Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help. My espresso machine Coban from Alessi was leaking. I removed the bottom panel and found out that water tube has piped out of the boiler. Placing it back simply doesn’t solve the issue as it pops back after time. Anyways I can fix it without Taking the whole machine apart and changing the whole tube? Would be happy for any advise! Thank you very much!

The right sized spring-clamp could keep the tube connected.. a wire around the tube pulled tightly to one of the blue motor mounts might also keep it from pulling loose.

If the pipes are cracked you may be able to get new ones from a local appliance parts dealer. If the fittings are the problem Check with the formentioned.

Hi All,
I had the same problem. There is ONE authorised dealer for Alessi in Italy. They are Arthur Eugster Italia srl, in Asti (Piemonte). I don't have the contact number, but my friend in Italy got a complete set of seals from them, FREE OF CHARGE (don't ask me how he got it) and sent to me in Australia. Good luck

Hi, you see when any unit or set is left without power going through it, it actually does it harm, things in storage should be powered up at least a few times a month, otherwise the capacitors will loose their "Form" and will not work correctly, and if left too long the unit simply becomes unservicable, also the moisture in the atmosphere, gets absorbed by osmosis, into "Other" compnentry, and this too causes failures, not to mention, any other sort of corrosion, or perhaps flat cells in a unit, inductors etc. So as said, this makes a unit more or less unrepairable, or at least in need of a thorough going over to find out the problems..
Also backup batteries go flat and this too will cause units to not be able to start up as thier "Clocks" are wrong as the battery is flat, as it hasn't been charging.

Can I get a basket for ground coffee instead of capsules?

Probably! I'd check eBay or Amazon. I know refillable capsules are available for Keith, not sure for Nespresso.

Hi, I haven't used my machine for 3 years. I bought it brand new and for some odd reason its not working now. The steamer works fine, however espresso does not come out after I insert pod and switch on...

EXPLANATION: It is normal at that type of machines when they stay long unused you may have trouble with pump. The pump has 2 non return valves, very small and very sensitive ones. If they don't work properly the piston of pump cant pump watter for brewing coffee. SOLUTION: 1 - You should replace the pump, it will provide pressure and you will be able to get coffee from coffee brewing outlet 2 - (in case you cant get new pump fast enough) You open the pump carefully, the non return valves are in outlet part of pump. Before opening you can try blowing with compressed air = 4 bar (5-10 seconds) many times that helps to get in order the valves without opening pump.

How do you remove the pitch pipes?

Don't you love the sound of the Sapper Kettle?

Alessi refers to these as the E & B Pitch Pipes. Over time, impurities in the tap water corrode the internal reed whistle, and always the low pitched one first. Here's a tip: Once replaced, avoid overfilling the kettle to the top, causing boiling and water to spill though the pipes. The water might contain impurities, but the steam doesn't. This should help keep the pipes in working order for many years. We've had our Sapper kettle for 30 years.

I have found the best way to remove the old whistles is with the thick end of a Chop Stick. The soft wood worn't scratch the metal. Insert chopstick from the bottom and tap to drive them up and out from the top.

I get my replacement Pitch Pipes at the San Francisco Alessi store: Part 12701. Cost: approximately $16. (415) 434-0403 [email protected]

Hope this helps.

No coffee is coming out anymore.

It sounds to me as if the machine is full of linescale. I would suggest running some vinegar through the machine then rinse it with water again afterwards. That should clear it out for you.
