As you said,
> Menu (Home Key) > Applications > Settings > Location and Security > Require Pattern
< Screen Unlock Pattern check box should be selectable or de-selectable. But if this doesn't work, then there's must be something wrong with the system files, like software/o.s corrupted, or some other applications already deactivated or some malwares have infected. It could be Java script problem as well, since almost all the programs/applications/features are running through Java.
The only possible trick you can try is "Phone Reset" but be sure, data saved on your phone will be lost at every reset attempt. There are several reset and all reset codes don't work on all models. I am giving you the most common codes:
Hard Reset Codes:
*2767*688# or *2767*2878#
*2767*JAVA# Java Reset and (Deletes all Java Midlets)
*2767*MEDIA# Reset Media (Deletes All Sounds and Pics)
*2767*WAP# Wap Reset
*2767*CUST# Reset Custom EEPR0M
*2767*FULL# Reset Full EEPR0M (Caution)
For example : *2767*JAVA# would be keyed in as *2767*5282#
Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.
