SOURCE: sand filter problem

The pump is to big for the pool. So with that being said it is asking you to back wash more then you should need to because it is pulling water at a much higher rate then what your pool is actually calling for. I would recommend taking it down to a 700gl and this would solve your problem. Also you can replace the drain lines and suction lines to smaller lines and that will also take care of the issue at hand but I do not recommend that at all

SOURCE: Do I need a new sand filter psi gauge?

It wouldn't hurt to replace the gauge every few years, since it makes contact with heavily chlorinated water. They are available for less than $10.

I put my Hayward ST180T on rinse to vacuum the pool and I ended up with sand in the pool what happen?

You are using the wrong setting to vacuum. This type of pool filter should be set to "filter" for normal vacuuming or to "waste" for heavy loads. The "rinse" setting makes sure that all of the dirty water is out of your filter after backwashing.

After vacuuming and backwashing, the dirt recycles back into the pool PSI is only 8 - what is wrong?

Assure that the o ring is positioned onto the multi-port throat correctly. That could cause dirt to recycle into the pool water. It could also be issues with the multiport valve in the pool filters.

After I vacuum the pool, backwash it and then turn the filter system back on it blows in a lot of green water back into the pool. What should I do?

1st Green water is algee. Kill the algee in the pool. 2nd when you're finished backwashing the filter. Stop pump and move valve handle to rinse position. Then restart pump. Run in rinse mode until glass is clear. Then stop pump again, and move lever to filter position. When you're backwashing, you're reversing the flow of the water through the filter. When you switch directly back to filter, anything left loose in the filter flows back to the pool. When you select rinse, it reverses the flow back to normal, but keeps the water going to the waste outlet until clear, that way that green puff of water will go out the drain. De filter pressure too high water is cloudy

backwash the filter from main drain until sight glass is clear-this will reduce filter pressure. After backwashing return gate valve to filter position, then filter from main drain only. check water chemistry. add a clarifier to water

Pressure at 15 psi after backwashing

No that is normal pressure, when the pressure rises more than 10 psi over that in a 24 hour time, you should backwash the filter. Hope this helps

Sand filter not catching little debris

Filter is being bypassed at backwash valve, due to poor spider gasket in valve, or there is a broken lateral in bottom of sand filter, causing debris to return to pool..
