    wild guess this.

Toshiba (HDTC920XR3AA) Canvio Advance 2TB Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0, Red

    plugged in to what?
does it fail on all PCs you try? testing like that solves the riddle.
on real PC does it fail on all USB ports?
read HDD do fail on old laptops with old weak USB ports 150mA max rated ports are too weak for most HDD. so that is why to test it on a modern PC with 500 to 900mA ports or more.
USB3 is best test and best results.

SOURCE: seagate external hard drive is flashing blue light

Hi,

Sounds like you have either bad voltage from your power adapter or a failed enclosure.

First thing to do is check the ac adapter your using, find the output Voltage, should be between 5-16V and the output Amperage, should be between .25A and 5A depending on the type of seagate enclosure you have.

Now look at the stickers on the outside of the drive enclosure to verify that it uses the same voltage and amperage. If it doesn't you're using the wrong adapter(easy mistake after a move). If it's the correct adapter then you may have had a failure in the enclosure.

The next thing to try is to take the drive to your local PC shop and ask the technicians there to transfer the hard drive inside it into a new enclosure for testing. If this works buy the new enclosure and you're on the way. If this also fails, something has failed in the drive itself and you will need the help of a pro. Have the technicians either return it to the original enclosure or pack it in a static free bag.

Now you have a couple options. I can refer you into one of several professional facilities depending on your needs. The most common one I use is www.armor-it.com They are the least expensive on average but average 4-5 weeks for non rush orders. If you need a faster turnaround and don't mind spending a few extra bucks, reply back and including your Country, City and State and I will refer you into an appropriate facility near you.

My Toshiba px1394u-3g50 external hard drive is not working, light flashing and not recognised

Try connecting the hard drive to some other laptop and see if its getting recognized. Issue could be either with the hard drive itself of it could be with the usb port which you are using to connect the hard drive to your laptop.

How can I tell if everything is downloaded to my external drive...it was flashing and then stopped to leave a little light on...how can I tell how much memory is left on that external hard drive?

Hello and Good Day!

1.Click Start on the lower corner of your desktop PC go to My Computer. 2. Left Click My Computer using your mouse.(it will pop up new windows) 3.Locate your Hard Drive perhaps it is labeled as IOMEGA or removable drive. 4. Right click IOMEGA or removable drive then select Properties.a new window will pop up displaying a circle with two colors one is pink and other is blue. blue represents as used space and the pink as free space
Hope it helps Thanks!

Flashing LED light but not working

Unfortuntly, this caused the drives power source to be exceded and damage the drive or circut board. If you know someone that knows computer well, have them or yourself take the hard drive out and manually connect the driver to a computer and extract your data, if the drive is not damage that is, there is know way to know for sure until you try to connect to a PC directly. Or, purchas another USB external housing.
