Hi I have a Vizio E50i-B2. I get audio and I see the screen when doing the flashlight test. Do I need to replace the Power Supply or the LED Driver?

It is either the led backlights or the T-con board.

Sure its possible that power is not being fed to the T-con board!

You can easily test this with an electrical tester!

SOURCE: I have a Vizio E550i-b2 55 LED TV. I have no LED backlight. When I hold a flashlight to the screen I can see the images and I have sound. I was going to replace the LED driver? Thoughts??

Hi Jimmy,
If I may suggest, before changing, please check that the inverter board is producing the necessary voltage to drive the backlights or not. If the board is producing the necessary power and still the backlight is not coming on, there is possibility that some of the LEDs in the backlight array have failed.

SOURCE: Samsung un32eh5300fxza, flashlight test showed screen,audio still works So what board do I need to replace?? Is led controller part of the power supply. Thank you for your advise.

I would have to guess that the Timing Control Board is defective

Hi,
This model develops bad solder joints on the connector between the power supply and the led driver board and loses backlighting. It's hard to believe, but the whole connection goes bad. All those pins supply only 24v and gnd. Resolder all of the pins on the power supply half of the connector and the tv will work.
It's the connector between that large yellow board (p/s) and the center green board (led driver).

If you have backlights its not going to be the tcon for future reference. you have some shorted or open LEDs in the panel. Check the voltage going to the LED sets, should be 100 plus volts

Hi,

Hi I have a VIZIO E550i-B2 the TV has no pictures not sure if it has backlight but it does have Audio the only way to see picture is to shine a flashlight on it.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. If you can see an image with a flashlight and you can control the tv with the remote then the main board is not the problem. You've replaced the LED driver board, so that leaves the LED strips inside the LCD panel as the likely problem.

U are on the right track - problem is caused by the board that drives the backlighting - the inverter board.

If you can get the number for the board it may be available on the cheap on ebay.
