Q: So your brand new Yamata FY920 needle will not go when the Power Foot-Peddle is pressed.
A: If it is new, there is little chance any part is worn out.
The most likely cause is that the Power Train has been disengaged as if to wind a Bobbin. The Handwheel, on the Left side (the top wheel), has a slide-switch in the middle of the hub. Slide that switch in the other direction and your Power Train should now be engaged again, allowing the Needle to go Up and Down when the Power Foot-Peddle is pressed. That should do the trick to get the Needle to sew again. [ P.S. That's a nice machine, but be careful when you clean it, since the markings have been known to run if any kind of solvent, or even some plastics, come in contact with them. ] Hope this helps. Sincerely, Amender, 2020-DEC-04.

I had that same problem and it was due to the thread being too tight. Put the thread net on your thread and it should be ok.

Make sure the clutch motor is powering up. make sure voltage toggle switch is on 110v and not 220v. Also rotation set correctly. Independently, make sure the motor runs. With your hands and motor belt disengaged, attempt to turn the handwheel toward you. If it is moving, then make sure motor is running. It handwheel does not turn it could be the machine. Make sure the stitch length dial is set at 2 or 3 and not 0 or 5. That could be that problem as well.

lower your needle with the presser bar behind the machine. you're in bobbin winding mode when it's at 11 oclock when you look from behind and 2 oclock facing front of machine.
