Sorry I thought the detailed questions had posted with my first Question Title post. Detatils are: I have changed belts in about 30 of these, but after changing the belt in the latest New in Opened Box Sony CDP-CX355 that I have, it still has an issue. With disc in slot 1 and 2 it plays disc 1 only. The AllDisc mode is selected with the Continue button. When I loaded disc in slots 1-4, itplayed 1, 3 then wanted to play slot 41 that had no disc. There must be a disc sensor that is misaligned or malfuntioning. I have the service manual but it does not have troubleshooting section and nothing appears obvious. There is something about Aging that I do not understand. Is it jus an adjustments or parts need to be replaced. Whether a set screw position adjustment to the T.Sens Board on page 14 of Sony Service Guide is enough or whether the T. Sens Board page 14 or D.Sens (Out) Board page 13 or D. Sens (In) Board on page 15 possibly need replacing.

I got a free one of these from my work...well that is because it was having the same problem and they didn't want to mess with it haha. Sooo...I brought it home..thinking i could just buy a cd cleaner kit and clean the dirty lens..which is what normally causes these problems. To my dismay this didn't work (later found that the lens is a good half inch away from the disc)..so i decided to open the bad boy up (hey I got it for free...no harm crackin it open :-) ) After hitting the lens with a can of air..I tried again...no go. And just so you all know...this player runs vertically..not horizontally. I want to know how does the player read? the lens in stationary. All other players i have seen the lens moves up and down. I'm thinking it might have something to do with that. I gave up on cleaning it and started doing some searches..this was the only forum that was somewhat helpful. I agree with Silverscreen. When i watch the cd's playing the disc wobbles SLIGHTLY up and down. I think the rear stand-alone wheel is a bit too loose. ..The amount it wobbles is hardly noticed but is the only thing i see out of the ordinary.

Hello,
how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it is refusing to play any more CD....
Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens. You can add very little liquid to the cotton board like mentholated spirit and dry the lens with another cotton board that has not liquid on it.
If non of the above solves the problem, then it means the lens is weak beyond cleaning. Know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.
To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.
Once this us done, your player will play all CD's again without any problems.
I hope you understand the above.
Regards.

The pladder motor that spins the disc is open, or the laser pickup is defective, the whole laser assembly would need to be replaced, not cost effective to repair cheaper to buy.
