Z4217 Husqvarna 2005 The engine starts and runs but as soon as I release the park brake the engine does. Seat switch is good and I have bypassed it and it still does the same thing. The seat switch only has 2 wires and they are both green.

There is another safety switch connected to the parking/service brake. Check that one too. Sounds like its the one.

SOURCE: engine dies when clutch brake released on husqvarna gth2548

First check the seat switch, make sure it is plugged in tightly, these plugs have a safety tab built into them that will cut the engine off if you unhook it,sometimes the plug latch pulls out slightly and this will cut the engine, There are two other switches in the system one on the foot clutch and on on the mower clutch, if you follow the white wire from you ignition switch it will lead you to both of them, check those connections also.

SOURCE: riding mower dies when releasing brake

the seat switch is the problem. the switch itself could be bad, but usually theproblem is that the connector is just not plugged in all the way [by the way, trying to bypass the switch by inserting the wire doesn't work because there is a "switch" inside the connector to prevent you from doing just what you did]

The symptoms are a operator not in seat.

The seat switch requires a normally closed switch that opens when seat occupied. See attach.

Possibly the seat timer or other false operator not present.

I have a Husqvarna Z4824 zero turn. The engine shuts off when the parking brake is released.

Check the engine ground wire. It may only be obtaining ground from the brake switch.

My zero turn Husqvarna mower Starts good, but kills it when parking brake is taken off! Everything is in place otherwise.

You have a safety switch not working. First check your seat switch. Try to engage the PTO with the parking brake on. Blades should start but die when brake is released. My guess, seat switch. Check it is completely connected, these can be hard to connect. Make sure you hear a "click" when the connector is pressed into the switch.

This sounds like the seat switch. Keep in mind newer model seat switches cannot be jumped or disconnected.

John deere gx255 shuts down when brake released.

For sure the seat switch is the likely problem. The logic is if the brake is set the engine will start and run. If the brake is released and no driver in seat a saftey situation is possible and the engine turns off. Check seat switch, Bi pass to troubleshoot.

Hope this helps?
