SOURCE: cannot turn tv on

What i did to fix the problem, and no i did not throw it off the porch which was my first idea after i received an estimite. There are 4 capcitors on the d board which a believe is the digital board. Its located to the left of the card tray and its the only board in a steel can cover. They need replacement. I bought mine at radioshack and the repair worked for me. I was later told that the radioshack caps will blow out in a few months but i had already installed them. It worked. You have to desoder the old ones out and resolder the new ones in. It cost me about 2 hours time and 5 dollars at radioshack because i needed to buy solder as well. I will try to find the directions someone sent me and post them, also i will try to find the right (cap) part number as i stated before, the radioshack ones are not going to last. You have to use HIGH HEAT cap do to all the heat the tv puts out.

My tv wont turn on by power button or remote. white light keep blinking.

How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy. For more information, check the link http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/. If the blinks continues, and non-stop, the fault should be with its main system control IC, and with the memory IC.

I have a Sony Bravia LCD tv an it won't turn on at all the standby light is not even there I've tried turning on an off and leaving unplugged for an hour still nothing.? Help,

You either have a problem with your power supply board or main board. I would start with having the power supply fuse checked as well as the power supply board!

The infrared receiver light just keeps blinking red and TV won't power on. Tried unplugging for a little while but didn't help.

kindly count the blinking led to diagnose where the fault came from..

also try the initial check....open the back cover and inspect the power supply board for any bulged capacitors inside..

Hi,
If the led light flashes green continuously, the fault came from the DM power supply. The faulty parts there are the electrolytic capacitors. Let me know if your handy with electronics and I will assist you to fix it yourself.

Hi, what is the sky remote code for Toshiba TV model 32BV500B? Thanks.

I've found two codes that work fine on a revision 8 Sky remote control and a revision 8r remote:

0056 (LG/Goldstar)
981 (General reset)

Both codes enable volume, channel selection and power on/off.

Toshiba 50HX81 projection 'tv- blinking red light

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.
