Kitchenaid KDTE104DSS0 dishwasher. The heating element is always on - even without any cycle selection. Even after a power cycle, the element is on immediately. Testing shows code 6-6.

I initially thought it was the temp sensor but don't know how it is getting power to the element if no selections are made on the panel. I have power cycled the machine leaving off for over two hours. When the power is restored the element heats immediately with no cycle selected or any button touched.

This could be the relay that controls the heating element, I dont see a separate relay so it may be on the main board. The relay could be stuck closed due to the high current that might have welded the contacts closed. It could also be a sensor issue that is closing that relay. The error code you listed says it is detecting cold water.

SOURCE: Asko D1796 will not start properly

It sounds as if you may have A bad control board. It could be causing the heater element to come on when its not supposed to (usually a stuck relay) and not filling the machine with water. you could also have a bad control board AND a bad fill valve, as a stuck relay for the heater shouldn't affect the fill valve circuit. The bad news is that these asko control boards are $350 to $450 for just the part, the good news is that the control board is under a 5 year warranty (for only the part, not the labor to change it) as are the pump motors and any timers. Also, if you are just out of warranty, find your date of installation, as asko warranties start when you install it, not when you buy it (if you moved into the house and it was there when you moved in, and you are the first owner, submit a date of occupancy and that's when your warranty started)

SOURCE: GE JRS04BOW3BB Will not turn on.

turn the broil on high by itself wait a couple min. and see if it comes on. if it does the your bake element needs to be replaced or you may just have a burned wire where the bake element plugs in. just remember to turn the breaker off to the oven before trying to pull out the element

UNfortunately that sounds like the controle module and you can not have that fixed. only replacement of the part will fix that problem

SOURCE: Maytag Quiet Series dishwasher won't start

Sounds like you have a bad Control Board

http://www.partstore.com/Part/Maytag/Maytag/MDB6600AWW/Maytag/Maytag/99003160/New.aspx

But with the price it cost, you might be better off buying a new dishwasher, preferably a different brand, cause that washer has some bad reviews

Doesn't get hot and steamy especially during rinse cycle

Try whispering sweet-nothings into its ear and kissing it. This always gets me "hot and steamy". ha, ha

But seriously, the steam you see in your dishwasher is created when the heating element inside the dishwasher heats the water up even higher than your water heater. This provides extra cleaning power. The heating element is also turned on during the drying cycle to help dry the dishes quickly. That is why you get a blast of steam when you open the door at the end of its cycle.

So no steam means either the element is bad (likely) or the controller/timer is bad (hopefully not, $$). If you know how to use an ohmmeter then you can "ohm out" the element and see if it is open (unplug the power first!!). If not, you can remove the element and take it to your parts store and ask them to do it (again, turn off the power first!!!).

If this helps you, please select YES to the first two ratings questions. Thank you, and Good Luck.

Whirlpool quiet partner III clean light blinking green

you have to hit heated dry and normal and toggle these till all the lights light up. then hit cancel . you are going to have to turn the power of and slide the dishwasher out and look directly behind the dishwasher you will see that a wire off of the heater is more than likly burned of repair the wire you should be fine. replug dishwasher in after wire is repaired. if you do not have a burned wire you have a bad heating element replace the element.
