you could try the plumbing department at the hardware store, take the gasket with you. you could try cutting up an old innertube out of a bicycle tire or start canvassing thrift stores, just unscrew the base and keep it with you when you go.

By now I'm sure you've given up, but do you still need the jar? I have one that is now useless to me since my son tried to run the blender when the jar and base were not seated correctly and the rotors on both were worn off.
