Question about Power Computers & Internet
if you are talking about vertical section 1 reduce brightness as you will get h/line due to vertical failure. 2 check v/section for loose contact or yoke connection. 3 check supply to vertical section. 4 check associated parts in v.section 5 at last check for vertical ic. hope this will help. as per schematic diagram go to www.serviceinfo.com good luck

SOURCE: dim control panel unable to read
Removed the amber glass which obscures the display enough to remove the wiring from view. This also allows you to see the characters much more clearly. You now can see the inidvidual light elements.
It's not too bad, people don't even notice, but they do notice you can now tell the time and see what the oven is doing.

SOURCE: Need info on component 3071 on power supply board - burned up.
Its been a while since i worked on that power board. But I believe you are refering to the orange diode that runs into the single connector for the video board next to the power supply. I replaced mine with a 1n914 diode after replacing the 2200uf lytic cap and the tv fired right up.

To specify, the Alienware model I have is M17X Rev 4
Thanks for the input, but I like to try to fix things and I'm fairly good at doing just that. Besides, $180.00 for a used motherboard versus $5.00 max for replacement components. I don't even need to think about it. It irks me how readily people in our society just throw anything that breaks and needs repaired away. So many things are so easily repaired and made basically new once again. That is if you do it yourself. DIY... YouTube tutorials are your best friend.
why not ask a dell.com where tons of aliens there. no really.
dell.com click community.
the only board views are on ebay, used for sale
no dell PC has any schematics, zero !!!
they are a secret those. ok. like most OEM.s
Do.
well the first thing you failed do first.
is to remove all huge batteries and test on AC power pack only, this is step one on all laptops made, and a new RTC coin cell at the same time,
if still dead and chips burned, buy a used mobo off ebay, dell does not sell them at all.
they (dell) dont even have parts list like mighty HP.com has.(partsurfer)
time for a new mOBO, ? sure.
well your statement is not true, things did change for the last 40 years,
SMD , ever seen any one rework SDM parts.
nor any schematics.
ever seen a BOM, a bill of materials on any Laptop, mobo? no you did not and some parts are not generic but are dell contract parts.!!
The parts that blew up , you lost the top ID makers on the part, so no BOM no Joy, for sure.
some parts chips (all) this old are not made now and very hard to find,(you forget that)
(like regulators)
VRM regulators are top failure on most poor grade laptops. some fail; with a shorted battery I told you to remove first.
one other thing is this there is not a huge sales of those PC, they are boutique, for rabid gamers, with huge deep pockets.
Some at $6000 a pop, 6 times what the thing is worth too. (only Klingons buy them?)
that means DELL PCB spare parts are crazy expensive for rarity. I'd sell one if given to me, no use for alien anything here, and some love to overheat. too. many do , (smaller the case worse the heat)
Build a DESKTOP with ASUS mobo, Z270 up
and game and will not burn up ever.
or used DELL 8900 and put in any GPU card you want, cheap.
next time avoid ALIENware,
