How do I Fix Brother Printer HL 2240 error? - Brother Office Equipment & Supplies

1. Turn off the printer.
2. Open the front cover.
3. Press on "GO" and don't release.
4. Turn on the printer.
5. After the lights come on. ...
6. Press on "GO" again until the error light comes on. ...
7. Press on "GO" until all the lights come on solid except for "Ready", and release "GO".
8. Close the front cover.

Try this Toner reset sequence (worked on Brother HL-5350DN)
With Printer off open the toner door
Hold the Go button as you turn the printer on.
All lights will turn on. Keep holding Go until status light goes off.
Press the Go button 2x.
The Paper, Drum & Toner light will come on
Press Go 6x
Status light will turn red
Close the front.

Have you tried pressing the GO button to reset the device? I had a similar problem, found this manual and it helped me, check out the troubleshooter ;) Brother HL-2240 manual

Have you tried shutting it down completely? Also, double check to see if the inside of the printer is completely clean. I had the paper jam indicator showing because there a small piece of paper stuck inside. Also, found a helpful manual for a similar printer, you can see it here - Brother HL-2240 manual

if you press the GO button 3 times very quickly (1-2-3) and you get a printout from the printer then the most likely reason is problem with the connection or the windows driver

This is a paper jamb problem. There is a piece of torn paper stuck in the paper path that is stopping the printed page from exiting properly.
