If the needle hits the bobbin case, it may break the tip of the needle. This usually happens if the bobbin case is not placed correctly. After cleaning your sewing machine, you may fail to put back the bobbin case into its original alignment.

Machine locks after 2 stitches

Q: So your machine locks up after two stitches.
A: 1. Check for thread tangle under Needle Plate. 2. Re-thread machine, being sure the upper thread is not jammed or wound around a post. properly. 3. Check to be sure the Bobbin Winder is not engaged and the Handwheel Lock is Engages, so the Needle is activated by the Drive Train. 4. Check the Lower Bobbin, Bobbin Case, and Hook, to be sure there is no thread locking it up.
5. Check that the Hook does not collide with the Needle. If so, your machine will need to be re-timed. 6. Hope this helped.
Sincerely, Amender, 2020 DEC 05.

Needle not catching the bottom thread juki DDL5530

Make sure needle is not bent and fully inserted. Top thread is not binding (over tension) or snagging on the spool.

This has a transparent bobbin cover? If yes manually advance machine with the hand wheel, keep an eye on the bobbin case, do you see the bobbin case (hook) rotate?

As the needle starts upward, there should be a loop of top thread form. The bobbin case hook captures this loop and wraps it around the bobbin case.

My needle keeps stopping and breaking, like gears arent rotating

Sounds like the timing is off (the needle is arriving at the bobbin at the wrong time and colliding with something in the bobbin area). Take it for service or search the internet for sewing machine timing instructions. There are tons of web sites and videos.

I think the timing is off on my singer 7430 -- it keeps breaking needles and I can see where the needle hits the bottom of the bobbin casing when it is in the fully down position -- any quick fix?

Drop-in bobbin?

Refer to the maintenance section of the manual for cleaning.

Raise the needle to it's highest position and remove the bobbin and bobbin case.

Clean the shuttle and replace the bobbin case, noting the graphic in the instruction manual for aligning the case into the shuttle.

Turn the handwheel to see if the needle now clears the outer edge of the bobbin case.

Needle hits the bobbin and breaks

If you are certain that the needle is hitting the bobbin shuttle itself and breaks, your machine is out of time. Does it collide at the very first revolution of the machine? If it does, yep. Just make sure your needle isn't hitting the plate instead. (I assume you've studied this.) Service center, here you come! (Timing issues are complex and the tech has the specifications.) Good luck.

Bobbin case case keeps jamming

I am having somewhat the same problem with the exception that my needle did not break. I've cleaned and oil, but the bobbin case and projection positioned spring is not communicating to allow sewing to continue. The thread keeps jamming and the bobbin raises up the plate. So, what else am I to do?

The needle on the sewing machine keeps breaking

With the bobbin case removed, try turning the handwheel slowly and watch to see where the needle is colliding.

Repeat with bobbin case in place....
