My Microsoft Wave keyboard was pounded on, and now the spacebar on the right side will not depress readily. The middle and left side work correctly. What is wrong, and how can I fix it?

You will have to buy a new one then. All of the parts would have to be replaced. It would be more easier to buy a new one than to fix the old one.

How do I unsplit the spacebar on a microsoft keyboard

I don't know why you would want to "un-split it" but, if I were to try such a thing without disassembling the keyboard, I would epoxy something thin and rigid - perhaps a piece of the long spacebar from an old keyboard - across the tops of the two keys. If I wanted to take the keyboard apart, I'd just epoxy a small piece of plastic between the two keys and, if space allowed, reinforce with a small screw being careful to maintain the original distance between the keys so they would still line up with their sensors. In both cases I would use epoxy rather than glue because the spacebar is a very heavily-used key and epoxy is MUCH stronger than glue. I hope this is helpful. Good luck!

Spacebar on my Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 is sticking in the down position.

Take out the space bar button and change the position of the "sway bar" shown in http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/MS-Natural-Ergo-Keyboard-Sticky-Spacebar-Fix/index.html

There are 3 positions you can keep the sway bar - The middle positions worked for me and probably will work for you too.

My dog knocked over my Compaq keyboard. Now the divided spacebar is opposite what it should be. Instead of spacing on the right spacebar I have to hit the left side. How do I fix this?

Pull the space bar off by using your fingers. Underneath, you'll find a metal rod. Take note on which way it is facing, and how it fits. Make sure nothing in broken under the space bar, then put the space bar back on making sure it hooks in correctly.

The spacebar on my HP pavilion dv3z drives me nuts. It only spaces when it hit it right in the middle. My usual movement hits the right hand side, and produces no space. Can I replace the keyboard? The...

If the system is out of warranty, you can replace the single offending keyboard key by going here to identify it. http://www.machinaelectronics.com/store/keyboardkeys/HP_Pavilion_DV9000_DV9000Z

If you don't want to get that involved, the only easiest solution is to replace the entire keyboard. Check to ensure that this part that should work with your laptop here:

I see that. Sorry. Keyboards are kinda tricky. Some have a small silver bar inside them that clips into 2 slats. this bar keeps the spacebar from teetering left or right when you press on it off-center. Without that metal piece, youd make the space bar lean to the right when you press the right side, and left when you press the left side. That bar allows the entire button to depress when you press it on the side. Having said that, easiest fix is go online and get a new kbd. They are about 12 bucks, and can be used on any USB port.

SPACEBAR WILL NOT SPACE

Inspect the spacebar paralell guide wire. When depressing the spacebar on the right or left side extreme the spacebar other side should travel down at the same time. If not the spacebar will not actuate the electronic keyswitch under the spacebar. Most likely, the keyswitch is defective and requires replacement.

Problemwith spacebar

If you take all those tiny screws out of the bottom of the keyboard you'll see a circuitboard with three copper "design" spots(usually 3) under the spacebar..........the ones NOT in the center of the spacebar are dirty. You could use some alcohol or acetone to clean the outside "designs".....(warning) Acetone will damage plastic!!!!!!!!
there are a lot of rubber caps that WILL fall out of place when you turn it over) (the actual keys could fall out too) (Be careful when you take off the bottom of the keyboard!!!!) Clean the ones that align with the SPACEBAR!!!! Dont touch or clean anything else that wasn't working....... Gently place the bottom back on and screw down the bottom cover with a cross pattern.....(left>right...top>bottom).....If this dosn't work....the best part is that a new keyboard........is fairly cheap....mtg

The spacebar doesn't work consistantly unless ''pounded''

The spacebar is the most often used switch on your keyboard, so, yes, it's from overuse, but also from
the fact that it is the longest key on your keyboard and the closest to the edge, all of this combining to
make it the dirtiest key on the board.

So, get a keyboard cleaning kit, either professional or DIY which would consist of the following, cotton
swabs, compressed air, and maybe a toothbrush and realize that all the stuff that accumulates under
your keyboard's space key makes it harder to depress to the point where contact is made.

I took off the spacebar and now i have trouble putting it back on to work properly

Just separate the retainer from the spacebar as good as you can and then put it in the little hooks on the left and right sides and then angle the key a little bit and snap it on. It took a while for me but I did it! :)
