make sure the brushes on the shampooer head are spinning and that you have the shampooer head lowered all the way down to its lowest setting. Also...shampoo at a slower pace than you would move when vacuuming...when both putting down the suds on heavily soiled areas and scooping them up. The more oils in the carpet, the less suds you'll see when the shampooer is working properly.
one more thing that may be mentioned in the guide is the little round sud screen that attaches to one end of the shampooer hose...make sure that little mesh screen is there and seated properly. It is what produces the suds from the shampoo solution.
SOURCE: Kirby Low Suction
Have you checked the fan? It is what creates the suction. If ok, then you may have a motor problem, sometimes they run but not up to speed, then suction is lowered when that happens.

SOURCE: Kirby Sentria vacuum -- can't figure out how to hook up main hose to vacuum floors
First you need to press the foot pedal for the height adjustment all the way down to lift the front of the vacuum off the floor. On the front top of the vacuum where the LED lights are is a cover. That section will lift up by lifting just below the LED's. Once it's lifted up there are some visual instructions, but here's what they are saying. The little circle on the front divided with the word KIRBY is the belt release. The section of the circle with the word on it will pull out. Like a wind-up flashlight it will turn from lining up with the green arrow counter clockwise 360 degrees and lining up with the red arrow. This takes a little pressure to turn it. Now just above this circle, under the LED bonnet, there is a lever that holds this whole front end on. It must be turned also counter clockwise to remove and front then slips off. The reverse would be used to put the beater roller portion back on. Also this would be the way to slip on the hose attachment to **** through it instead. I hope this is a little clearer.
