Question about LG Refrigerators

1 Answer

LG side by side not dispnesing water (GCL197STF)

It makes and dispenses ice. When the lever for water is pressed I can hear a buzzing sound. Usually I hear water come into the fridge for a split second but nothing is dispensed. I have replaced the 3 way inlet valve without success. I tested the old one by removing hoses one by one. Water pressure was adequate into the valve. It would dispense water at the first solenoid presumably into the filter or tank inside the fridge. But the last solenoid (I assume into the water dispenser) did not dispense water when the lever was pressed. I tried heating the water outlet and around the door with a hair dryer without success. I replaced the filter. it dispenses water out of the filter housing when the filter is removed. it does not dispense water where the 2 hoses meet underneath the freezer door.

    Thanks David.

I checked voltage at both the water and ice sides of the valve (its a a 3 way valve and I'm not sure which was which although I believe its the purple wires???). Neither got voltage when activating the switch. I double checked by testing the inlet side of the valve and it got 240 volts (Australia) when activated by the water actuator.

I tested all for resistance and they gave 1347-1349.

Then I got the control panel off and tested the the micro switch on the water actuator. It read Open until activated, then read 400 ohms.

The dispensor switch may have gone out. I would put the temp back where it was, as this has no bearing on the problem. Hope this helps you! Ella

Click the below link for the manual. When the link opens, scroll down a bit, click, "English and the download will proceed.

Do not mind the model number, they are the same thing, just carrying different model numbers with little or no difference.

The fact is the exact manual for LG GCL197STF is not available for download, not even the manufacturers (LG) has it. So you can have the one below as a substitute as they function hand in hand.

LG side by side model# lsc26905tt, won't dispense water. I can hear the pump trying to pull water but the water is sitting in water line just outside of filter on the outside of fridge.

Sounds like the dual solenoid water control vave. Located in the back it will have two wire connectors going to solenoids. They are replaced as a pair and most local appliance dealers have universal replacemants.

My Frigiadaire makes ice but does not dispnese. when i press ice dispanser arm, motor engages bu dispenser does not dispanse any ice. Dispenser arm is not rotating.

Those are good old ice makers. I believe they outlast the electronic style 4 to 1. You can try to repair by taking it out and careful disassembly. Take care to not lose the lever arm spring as they are a trick to get back on and can easy to drop and not find. Sometimes a good cleaning out and checking micro switch settings will solve the problem. The only problem I see is buying the parts for these ice makers. You just as well buy a new one. Some have a fuse made into the wiring harness and if blown that would tell me something serious is wrong with the ice maker. Your best bet is try fixing yourself or replacing the complete part 5303918277 Sea Breeze

Which is the best RO system to use for an LG side-by-side fridge?

You realize you asked a simple question for a very complex answer. Water supply is the first key and that water supply depends if the reverse osmosis has been applied there before reaching your refrigerator. I can name many countries where the water you see you cannot drink but only purchase purified water. If you have clean and safe drinking water in your home then use the recommended filter that LG reccomends. If not then I recommend Omni Pure. Thanks, Sea Breeze

LG 26930tt side by side refrigerator water leaking

Make sure the unit is not all iced up, try to defrost it and then retry, turn off the ice maker and water supply before defrosting. Put a thermoter in the freezer to check temp.

No water to water/ice dispenser

My old GE stopped working not too long ago too. Same thing, water to the back and no further. I replaced the pump ($25) and it worked fine. I found the pump at an appliance repair shop, they ordered it for me, a few screws and such and it worked! Good luck.
