Blue LED light connection from Bezel to Motherboard

While replacing the DVDR drive in my e-machines T6520 I accidentally disconnected the wires that go from the front bezel to the motherboard. (I disconnected them at the motherboard, they are still connected at the bezel). I was able to reconnect them so my machine boots up and works properly, except the blue led power light on the front of the unit does not come on at all. There are blue/ white, black/white & red/white paired wires coming from the bezel. Which pair are the wires for the blue LED light, and where does it get plugged in to the motherboard? A photo or diagram would be very helpful.

The LED light for the front needs to have the connectors put in opposite but put with the positive and negative the same way as you insert it. The labels should face inward then outward and put one by one not simultaneously.

Emachines front panel connections

the system board should be labelled where the jumper pins connect. if you are in the right spot, but the lights dont work, then flip the connection around, because LED lights are polarized, meaning they will not light up unless the + and - are plugged in correctly. Usually, the wire with the COLORING on it is the + and the white, gray, or black wire is the -

Diagram put back together

Hello
Not to much information from you . Here is a E-Machine assembly for the motherboard .
The power switch is a 2-wire connection to the Motherboard. The 2 pins on the motherboard it connects to will be labeled something like PW. The polarity on it doesn't matter. There will also be a power LED connection. Usually those wires are green and black. Green is positive. There's also a hard drive activity LED with (usually) red and black wires. Red is positive. Hopefully that polarity will be marked on the motherboard. If not, try it one way and if the LED doesn't light up, try it the other way. The power (green) LED should be on whenever the PC is on. The hard drive (red) LED will be on whenever the drive is being accessed. There might be pins on the motherboard for reset. Some computers don't have a reset button. In that case you wouldn't connect anything to it. If your case does have a reset button then connect the wires to the reset pins on the motherboard. Polarity doesn't matter for that.

Hope this helps

When turning computer on, fans start then shuts down with one long blue light flash around power button. Suspect power supply

You could be right in your analysis, however, before replacing the PSU unit (a weak point with both Medion and E-machine computers) check the following:

  • That the Power button is not sticking in the case
  • Inside the computer case, the PW wire is firmly making contact with the motherboard (switch to motherboard 2 pin wires)
  • That the PW wire does not have a kink in or is broken giving an intermittent fault
After checking those:

  • Disconnect HDD, DVD Writer, remove 1 stick of ram and test with each removed, replacing each in turn. If the computer still does not boot, then check the ATX connector to the motherboard and the 4 pin auxiliary CPU connector (black and yellow) if fitted
  • Remove the motherboard and check underneath to make sure there are no items of metal that might be causing the board to short out. Check the board underneath for signs of blacking or burning.
  • Replace the board and refit all connections.
  • Inspect the capacitors on the board (small cylinders) if any are bulging at the top, leaking and with a brown residue, the board is failing and will need replacement.
  • Finally, remove the PSU and test with a known good one.
  • If this fails and the board shows no blowing capacitors, the problems may now lie with a blown CPU or micro damage to one of the motherboard circuits

Need to re-attach power button cable, hard drive

The manual for your computer is available from emachines, p.168 shows the info you need (replacing the front I/O panel)
http://downloads.emachines.com/userguides/8511279_eM_NG3_chassis_HW_ref_en.pdf

The good news is that you can't harm the computer by connecting the wires wrong and the bad news is they just won't work the way they are supposed too if not connected properly. The LED's must have the correct polarity to work.
In general, if you look real close (as in magnifying glass and flash light) you will see the ID for each set of pins is printed on the motherboard (pwr, rst,HDD,pwr sw,speaker) Just match what it says on the motherboard to what it says on the wires. Don't worry if you get the polarity wrong. If a light doesn't work just swap the two wires. The colored wires should be positve (+), though. The reset (rst) and power switch (pwr sw) wires don't require polarity.
These instructions are for most computers in general, YMMV.
