1992 mazda protege dx 4 dr won't start. Battery is only 2 months old. Makes a fast ticking sound from inside car similar to turn signal light out.

Hi Robin, As the battery is new and presumably not defective, I think you should suspect the soloniod fitted to the starter motor. If that component has become defective it will give the sound you're reporting. Depending on where you live in the world and the labour charges, you can have the contacter's replaced or the starter motor (if labour charges are high) Regards John

Check and replace the CD loader mechanism. It is faulty. Do not loads CD onto reading deck properly.

Why won't my camera won't read the sd card I'm using?

8 gB is SDHC. Try less than 4 gB maybe even 256 mB to see if it will read those cards. But lately, all stores only sell HC cards. Try ebay, and they may charge an arm and a leg for old cards?

Bought a new sd card and the tascam dr-1 reads it as protected

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

I have a Marantz dr 6000 cd recorder and it won't read new cd-r discs as it just says no disc but it does read cds. Thanks Jackie.

CD-R's must be made for and imprinted with the words "digital audio". Blank DATA discs will not be used. Do you have the manual?

I recently bought a Scosche Digital FM Transmitter Model FMTD8/FMTD8R. I loaded my 8GB San-disk flash drive with music but the transmitter won't read it.. doesn't even detect the flash drive being...

wma files won't be read, only mp3 files, in my experience. My 512 mb SD card works, but it won't read my 8 gb SDHC card. I suspect it can't manage SDHC (high capacity) cards. I haven't tested yet, because as it turns out, neither can my computer... I think I'll fall back to a flash drive.

My Nakamishi Cassette Deck 2 is eating tape. It switches off when it does, but how can I fix this? From the look of it this cassette deck has the same cassette drive as the DR-8. Is that correct?

It could be the take up spindle does not have enough torque causing the tape to bunch up after the capstan. If you open up the unit you will notice ether belts or rollers for the tape drive. If it has belts you can replace the belt after cleaning the pulleys. If it has rollers you may be able to clean them with a rubber cleaner (not alcohol which will dry the rubber and cause glazing). Make sure the capstan and the pinch roller is clean using a rubber revitalizing cleaner on the pinch roller. "Goof off" from a hardware store is great for the capstan if it has a lot of metal oxide on it.

I have the SmartDisk PhotoBank 80GB and it will not read my cards. I reformatted it and I can drag pictures onto it. They open fine but it simply will not read my cards.

The SmartDisk PhotoBank will not read cards above certain capacities (depending on the type of card). For example they will not read SDHC's etc.

If it won't read any cards (and it use to) then you may have a problem with your driver as I had such a problem. If this is the case please see below. (N.B. always best to back-up and/or create a restore point before updating drivers etc.

This solved my related problem...and it may solve yours...please let me know if it does...

I had a similar problem (probably caused by deleting files within the device folders on my PC) and have searched tirelessly for a solution and had pretty much given up until I stumbled upon a link to the site below.

I was dubious at first with so many previous false dawns and especially with concerns about security. Although I can't personally vouch for the site, the link or the downloads integrity, McAfee gave the site and links a 'green' bill of health, the laptop is still functioning fine and as it should (nothing malicious detected by various security software such as McAfee and Spybot S&D etc and most importantly the SmartDisk PhotoBank is once again fully operational; all in an instant with no ill-effects or anything untoward occurring.
