My dishwasher is 23 years old. Whirlpool Gold Series only the china button is working. Do I need a touch pad and control circuit? This is a built if I buy a new ones are a bit taller?

If all the other buttons work except the start button, you have a faulty touch pad that will need to be replaced. Below is a

the touch pad.
I think the problem here is there is water in the control panel. this can happen and short the other buttons out the cancel has its own circuit. I would recommend changing the control panel.
Hello- The touch control pad is failing and must be replaced. If unit is under warranty, get it serviced. This control is about 125$. Let me know if this info helps. Thanks-Ed
Try jigling the ribbon cable that is connected to the control panel. These ribbon cables sometimes fail. Also check the fuse on the control board to see if it is blown.
