Question about Vizio Televison & Video

Trying to figure out what's wrong with my vizio smart tv. I've changed the t-con board, but ig still has the lines that change width and color occasionally.

It seem to me that your tv have issue in the screen not in the board.

SOURCE: i have a vizio 42" lcd tv and it is a 2007 model.

T-con and inverter boards are not related to this problem so you might as well return them for a refund. When you try to power it on what is the status of the LED at the front ? Does it remain in standby mode or does it turn on but does not respond to any command?

It could either be the T-con(AKA LCD controller) or its the LCD panel. It cannot be anything else. So you should give the T-con a try and chances are it can fix the set.

If this is an LCD tv the backlight inverter is bad, a good way to check it is to shine a flashlight close to the screen and see if you can see a faint picture.

Sounds like you have some bad lamps in the panel that need changing, in time the backlights will totally go out and the set will have a black screen

Chances are you can rule out the tcon if you don't have sound, it could be either the main or power board, if you have a meter you can test the voltages on the power supply and see what is missing and figure out if your getting the signal from the main to turn enable PFC

Hi,
Probably the T con board is faulty. T con board is the one which drives the lcd pixels. Chekc the video to identify the t con board. Also try to remove the connection to T con board and reconnect it. some times bad contact on those connectors can lead to such problems.

Hello Patricia,
  • There is a loose soldering connection in the Main Board. That happens because the components on the are generating a lot of heat therefore melting solder connections.
  • Stop beating on the TV's back, that only makes the problem worse.
  • Take it to a shop.Or if you are a tech, try locating the loose connection(s) and solder it back.
  • Also check your Warranty Period, It may cost you 0$. Call Vizio if you still have Warranty on the TV.

Need help please. Why has my Vizio TV malfunctioned? And what are my options?

It sounds that the T'Con board [Timing Control Board] to your TV is faulty. But before confirming it, just re-seat all the flat cable connections from it to LCD panel. You must have knowledge in electronics to proceed. Otherwise, seek help of any experienced service technician.
