If its a flat screen with a fault (no picture-sound or dead) then I would think of getting a new one, most "flatties" over three years become a service problem. Those bought from large stores at a reduced price are at the end of production at that time so sold at bargain prices to clear the "decks" for newer models. Others I find with names not from major companies tend to exist for a while then vanish. Repairs are more a trust to luck plus expensive if motherboards get changed so my advice would be get a new one if your old one is sick, rather than waste time and money, for a 2008 its done good service plus modern TV's would be better in picture and power consumption.
Hope this helps you...

How do I tell which Philips flat screen I have

Well, personally I would say it is not worth fixing. The typical life span on flat panel TV's is about 5 to 7 years. Your set is close to the end of it's life cycle. Secondly, most experts recommend replacing your set if the cost of repair exceeds half of the cost to replace the set. By the time you pay the diagnosis fee, part cost, and labor cost, I think you will see what I'm talking about.

Screen got black lines across it

Across vertically or horizontally... It makes all the dif. It could be 3 boards on the set. The YSUS-main the YBU-upper/YBL-Lower. The Y buffer upper controls the top half of the screen, the Y buffer lower the lower half and the YSUS-main controls those 2 boards. They work in unison, when one goes they all fail. The other possibility is dry solder joints on the the D, G, E, F boards. All you would need to do with that is reheat the solder joints at the ribbon cable conx.

Panasonic plasma TV model TH-42PD60U won't turn on

I had this problem in 2007 / 2008 here is what happened to me. Jan 09, 2008 - I also have brought the unit to the authorized Panasonic repair facility and the problem is a failure in the P-board which is the power supply board. The P-board needs to be replaced. The repair will cost $475 plus tax. $250 is for labor. The unit was nop more than two months out of warranty. This does not speak well for Panasonic. I have been researching the problem and it looks like this has happened to many of the Panasonic plasma TVs.
Jun 14, 2008 - As an update to my problem with the failed P board. Contacted Panasonic Service and talked to a customer service representative. I told them how I have purchased many Panasonic products and how unhappy I was with the failure of the product. They proposed paying the labor cost of $250 and I would pay for the part. I just hope it does not happen again.
