Call the service provider but if your provider is with ATT

Resetting Voicemail Password
SOURCE: Voice mail?
This is a phone system phone. You would need a Panasonic phone system and a Panasonic Voice mail system to use this phone with voice mail capability. If you have these items then you need to find out which model number phone system and voice mail you have and locate the instructions for them. These phones can be used on different Panasonic phone systems and voice mails so the phone model number does not help resolve this.

Called GE. Here's what's happening (at least with my phone). I use VONAGE as a carrier. VONAGE's package includes voicemail. I have my VONAGE voicemail account set up to take any call that comes in if the answering machine on my GE phone does not pick up -- for instance if I'm on the phone and I do not "flash" over to the incoming call, that caller will eventually be sent to my VONAGE voicemail where they can leave a message. (Otherwise I would either take the call, or, if not already in use, the GE phone/answering system would simpy take the message.) This GE phone is commucating with my VONAGE account and letting me know that I have a mesage in my VONAGE account voicemail. All I have to do is either go online and delete the messages (after listening to them of course) and refresh the page. Once the messsages are deleted, the carrier lets my phone know the messages are gone and the NEW VOICE MAIL prompt on the handset disappears. I suppose I can do it by listening to the messages by calling in and deleting through the touch pad on the phone as well.

Hi, I have the same problem. I called the service provider, they left a voice message, which I accessed later and deleted from my voicemail box. This took care of it and I dont have that message on the screen now. I think you can just leave yourself a voice message and access it later and delete it. That should resolve it.
SOURCE: How do i set up a voice mail greeting on my nortel phone?
bodell,
The short version of getting to your greeting is:
Feature 981 or open voicemail key
your password
"8"for admin
"2" for greetings
"1" for record
"1" for primary greeting
"'1" to record your greeting
at the tone record your greeting
"#" to end recording
after you record press 1 to listen 2 to retry or # to accept
press "rls" key when finished
hope that helped.

Voice mail is probably a feature provided by your service provider.
I have a PBX with several different viop phones configured.
The voice mail is stored on the PBX you just need to configure the message waiting light on the phone and possibly a speed button that automatically dials the voice mail code.
I assume that you don't have a PBX and an internet service provider / voice service provider has those features available for you. They should have the documentation you need to configure the phone. If they specifically support your model phone you are in luck. Otherwise you will have to adapt from their generic description.
I have noticed that some really cheap voice plans don't include voice mail.
Hope this helps.
