SOURCE: Blu Ray Region settins

You can get a region free player program on your computer and then you will be free from the region code issues. You could try Leawo Blu-ray Player which is a free Blu-ray player and you could use it to play any DVD and Blu-ray discs.

Windows does not include software to play movie DVDs.
You need to purchase software to perform this task.
I use Corel's WinDVD.

Good luck!

I can no longer view blu ray dvds on it what can i do to fix this problem

Hi

are you saying that you could view them up until now

if so you could try a system restore back to when it was ok

usually found in start programs accessories system tools then system restore

or
start
search or run
type in system restore
then look for a date back to when all was well

windows will then shut down and try to restore back to when you asked it too
and on restart it will tell you if it succeeded or not

good luck

Advanced Access Content System (AACS) is an industry requirement designed to protect Blu-ray Disc® contents. For enhanced security, the AACS Key for your WinDVD® Blu-ray player requires updating every 18 months. You can try doing the update by going to Corel's customer help web page:

Driver

For DVD drives, no special driver software is required. The drives will work with generic drivers provided with all standard operating systems out of the box.

However, DVD movie playing is *not* done by a driver, it requires an application installed on the PC.

For Windows, AFAIR only Windows 7 can play DVD movies out of the box, using Windows Media Center.

All other versions of Windows require a commercial or free player program, e.g. WinDVD (Corel) or PowerDVD (Intervideo) or VLC (VideoLAN, free).

For burning data or movie DVD, also an application program is needed. Windows Vista and later have some limited support for ISO and UDF files systems written to DVDs. Personally, I like CDBurnerXP for data, and Slysoft's CloneDVD / AnyDVD combo for video.

My dvd player will show the video but there's no sound

Still haven't solved the dvd audio issue but it DOES play flawlessly on WinDVD. It still won't play on Real Player OR on Windows Media Player. So I'll just have to lay dvd's on WinDVD.

Compaq DVD Player problem

You need a new DVD codec. If you have a copy of WinDVD, give it an install. Otherwise, try the free codec on www.divx.com.
