check the drum for toner leaking, sounds like the drum blade.
the drum is a shiny cylinder inside the machine, open and and see if it has black rings

SOURCE: Canon PC-6re copies are all black

1-the scanning lamp is not coming on
2-seperation is not working properly
3-the HVT for the seperation is not working

You'll have difficulty finding that one, but really..... what is there you need to know?...it's as basic a machine as there ever was.

Clean the optical parts (mirrors,lens and lamps),charge corona wire and the transfer /separator corona wires and unir and make a copy.If not good tell me.

does the lamp under the platen glass turns on when copying? if not you might need a new exposure lamp...but if you get an image but its very dark, if you are mechanically inclined you can clean the mirrors and lens and the bottom of the platen glass because after many years of use dust will make the optics dirty and cause the copies to be very dark. hope this helps.
