If it is not the afore mentioned remote or button issues, it is a defective IR amp sending the control IC signal from the logic amp to the OSD control. It is a Magnavox, not designed for the long haul.

Try this, there are 2 versions of this set, one of these will work.

14PT6107

ENTER 062596 ON REMOTE
WITHIN 5 SECS PRESS MENU
SERVICE MENU SHOULD APPEAR
SELECT DVD
PRESS ENTER

OPTION 1 USE RIGHT BUTTON TO SELECT REGION "ALL"
NOW PRESS MENU 3 TIMES TO EXIT

OPTION 2 TYPE 00 PRESS OK
THEN MENU THREE TIMES
GO IN TO STANDBY AND POWER BACK UP

Option 2 worked for me. The thing I was failing to do was going in and out of 'standby'.
Also there is no 'all' instead 00 = 'all'

Try unplugging the set for 2 minutes first then try operations again. If that doesn't fix it maybe one of the buttons on the TV is stuck or the remote control is sending erratic commands.

Why does my magnavox zv427mg9a loads all but the last position on the scale shown on the screen with a movie disc but will load a blank disc. Magnavox zv427mg9a won't completely load a movie or prerecorded disc. It does complete the loading of a blank disc. When dubbing from VHS tape I get a E4 error. I cleaned the laser lense and lubricated the laser rails. Before I increased the power to the laser a very small amount, it wouldn't completely load a blank disc either.
