Mom's Basic White Bread for DAK Turbo II
1 package yeast
3 cups flour
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 T nonfat dry milk powder
1 T butter (room temperature)
1 1/4 cups warm water (Not straight hot. It'll kill the yeast.)
Pour the yeast to one side of the inner pan. Add the rest of the ingredients in the order above. Select white bread and push "Start."
Regardless of what the original recipe or instruction manual says, the machine must be placed in a 70 to 80 degree low-humidity environment (60% or less), all ingredients must be brought to room temperature, adding water, milk, milk powders, oils, salts, cheeses, sugars and seasonings first, next the flour, and last the yeast, before pressing Start.
Exception to this rule: Fast-rise recipes used to create a finished loaf of white bread in under 1-1/2 hours. Water/milk for these types of recipes must be a warmer 110 degrees F and the standard active dry yeast must be replaced with fast-acting dry yeast.
Hope this helps!
