CDX S2010 CD player acting up

The faceplate is lit, however the "off" button is the only button that functions. I had the stereo on when this happened. I was increasing the volume and when i released the button it continued to climb to max volume, played for a moment and then quit playing. If I insert a CD, it will autoplay the cd but only at max volume, none of the buttons will function and my only option is to eject the CD to make it stop playing. I did check the copper contact from the faceplate to the actual stereo and it appears to be intact. I disassembled the faceplate and all of the buttons are working internally, despite my thoughts that one might be stuck. Ideas?

I've had my Sony Xplod CDX S2010 Radio/CD player in my Jeep for years and it has all of a sudden locked up on me. The CD player will play and eject CDs, however it doesn't allow me to adjust volume or skip...

i'm not sure if there is a flexible cable that goes from the face to the motherboard. if there is, that could be the problem. it could also be a bad switch.

Sony Xplod CDX-S2210S

It is more then likely your faceplate has become non functional, and if so the cd player is almost none functional. If you can remove the faceplate try cleaning the connections that clip into the cd player. But by the sounds of it, your face plate is die'ing out on you. Sorry

Good luck,
IF you need any more help just ask.
Thankyou

Faceplate not responding / acting very weirdly

Sounds like a bad connection with the faceplate and the multi connector that the faceplate mates with when closed. check for dirt and bent pins on both connectors. Luck
