Not sure about Electrolux but the door striker or keeper of many front loaders incorporates a timer mechanism that prevents the door opening for a minute after the wash programme has ended.
Inside the striker of my washer, there is a heating element and a bimetal strip and if the mechanism fails when the door is locked it is very difficult to defeat.
On one machine I had to work inside the cabinet with a hammer and a long chisel to break up the striker in order to open the door and replace the striker.

One thought occurs - if your machine is a modern wholly computerised type, it might be necessary to tell the brain a repair has been carried out before the machine will work correctly. That would mean a visit from a service engineer who will connect his laptop...
Perhaps a research call to the experts will shed more light...

SOURCE: washer load became imbalanced and forced door open, now cannot close door, lock stuck and washer will not run

Perhaps you have to change your lock, this is a sensitive point & will affect the smooth operation of your machine. Re. the inbalance, you hv to screw up & lock the front 2 legs (with check nut), adjust the front legs (screwed up) only to see if the machine does not move during wash/spin.

There is a manual release that you should have used. You may have potentially damaged the door latch assembly now. These door latches can take some punishment but usually don't survive being pulled open or slammed real hard. If you need to replace it, click on the following link for step-by-step instructions:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587965-door_latch_replacement_fdl_error

This is an easy repair that anyone can accomplish, if you read and follow the instructions. This can save you the added costs of labor charges from an appliance repair company.

You can find a replacement door latch at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your COMPLETE model number in the Search window and you can locate your part under the "Door Latch Parts" heading on the next page. The part you need is listed as Item number 7 (part #8181700). As I stated before, the purchase price is a far cry cheaper than paying a repairman, and you can repair this yourself.

For your reference: If your door becomes jammed in the future, simply remove the lower panel under the door and reach in behind the front of the cabinet behind the door latch. There is a small round pull tab at the bottom of the latch. Just pull it straight down and the door will open manually. Sometimes these doors will do this. Don't know why...call it a "glitch".

I hope this helps you. Please post back you have further questions.

I have a 2002 Acura MDX and the latch is jammed or broken and the door will not click shut because the latch will not catch. Is there a way to fix it without replacing the mechanism?

Which door? Will the door close and not latch or will the door not quite close and bangs as you try to close it. Have a look inside the latch to see if the latch is in the locked position. If it is, pull on the door handel and use your finger to release the latch into the open position. If latch is in the open position, check the striker attached to the door jamb to make sure the screws have not come loose and allowing the striker to move causing the door to not properly close

I own a 1Q-Touch Front-Load Electrolux washing machine. The door won't open. What can I do?

Hello Elizabeth P Cochran - Try resetting the unit by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and restart unit. If the door does not open, then it sounds like the washer is possibly experiencing a communication problem with the control board, wiring failure or faulty door lock. Contact a professional to move forward accurately to properly diagnose/repair unit.

The control lock buttton is on. How do I remove it?

Handyman here-

I had a maytag neptune that did a similar thing. Door would close, but not lock. On the maytag there is 'wax motor' that closes the door lock. Mine melted and would not close. When the repairman came out I noticed a 'wire' that he pulled to make sure the locking mechanism was retracted before he pulled the 'motor'. Perhaps you can find a similar release mechanism to open your door. Note that your machine will not work properly until its replaced.

Good Luck!

Whirlpool washer model ghw9200lw

Either your door lock or latch is broken.

Door lock part # WP8182634

Door latch (Striker) part # WP8181651

If it is latch striker you will see it broken and this part is in the door itself.

Door lock is in the frame of the washer.

Check the part pictures at www.repairclinic.com

Door wont latch shut

Is there a dl code? If not note the door striker position as the door closes. If you have to push it shut you need a door lock and if the striker is hitting below the latch too much a hinge will fix it. Finally look for a black pin above the striker for any damage as the latch will need to be replaced if broken too. Because with this and a door hanging low will not close the circuit and the ccu will believe the door is open also.
