I would not suggest hooking up powered speakers to your receiver. Only if unit has sub woofer output can you hook up powered speaker

SOURCE: Volume on my Onkyo Receiver

Yes it is. I have the 705. My room mate has the 605. Both AVR's will not have appreciable volume until 50 on the dial.
The dial in not linear. I don't know of anyone who has plotted the scaling of the volume control yet.
I have found much useful user info on avsforum.com. Owners post Q&A based on experiences.
Search the forum for "official onkyo TX-SR605" thread.
Some comparable info may also be found under the "official onkyo TX-SR705".

SOURCE: is the onkyo mic optimizer compatible with yaama receiver

No, they are brand and model specific. If you visit a local retailer that sells Yamaha, tell them your model # and they may even have a mic you can use. If not, let me know, I'm a Yamaha dealer and can get it for you or point you in the right direction to get it. Hope this helps

SOURCE: Speaker Detect error Left Rear

Hey there.

I had the same problem until i figured out that if u dont have surround speakers connected it will be a error when trying to configure the rear surround speakers.

So if u are running a 5.1 system and have hooked up ur surround speakers to the back surround speaker port u have to change them to the surround speaker port.

Hope this work for u

SOURCE: Onkyo 501 Onkyo Receiver no sound out of right

if you are good at tinkering then you can pulol the top of the receiver and check the fuses on the board to make sure that they did not blow if not then it would be wise to take it to a repair shop to have your receiver checked out and serviced

Hello Fixya team, I need help!

To set up your home theater system with the equipment you mentioned, follow these steps:
  1. Connect the Onkyo receiver to the NEC TV using an HDMI cable. Make sure the HDMI input on the TV is set to the correct input for the Onkyo receiver.
  2. Connect the Panasonic DVD player to the Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable.
  3. Connect the Firestick Lite to the Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable.
  4. Connect the Panasonic speakers to the Onkyo receiver using speaker wires. Make sure you connect the speakers to the correct speaker terminals on the receiver, which are usually labeled with the speaker's position (e.g. front left, front right, center, surround left, surround right).
  5. Configure the Onkyo receiver to use the correct input for each device. For example, set the input to "DVD" when you want to watch a movie on the Panasonic DVD player, or set the input to "Firestick" when you want to watch content on the Firestick Lite.
  6. Configure the audio settings on the Onkyo receiver to use the correct audio format for your content. For example, if you are watching a movie with Dolby Digital surround sound, make sure the receiver is set to decode Dolby Digital audio.
  7. Adjust the volume and other audio settings on the Onkyo receiver as needed to optimize the sound quality.
Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to enjoy surround sound audio from your Panasonic speakers through the Onkyo receiver.

Amplifier signal does not reach both speakers equally strong

Check the balance (L/R) settings. IT is very unusual for something like this to happen. The problem usually is a total failure of one amp. If this is not the case then it might need to be adjusted and that would take special equipment.

It sounds like you also need the manual.

The remote is an RC-4278. You WILL need it.

As far as the left speaker goes, swap it to decide if it's the speaker, wire or the amp channel. There are no control settings that would make one of the front pair go silent.

I can not figure out how to adjust the balance on my speakers. It seems that one speaker in louder than the other. I cant find my manual and i've been tinkering with the receiver with no avail.

Tinkering won't work. HT510??? Not HTR510? Maybe that's what you meant.

All AVR's have settings for individual speaker channel levels and distances from the listening position.

How do I adjust the balance on my onkyo receiver?

You don't. Once the speakers are adjusted relative to each other using the test tone that's it. The modern presumption is that you're sitting in the sweet spot at all times and all program material is perfectly recorded.

The manual is available at retrevo.com for free.

Do all speakers need to have the same impedance? (Protect mode)

Amplifiers sometimes like to have "balanced loads" on them, and this may be the case with your unit, meaning yes, all the impedances should match.

Judging by the impedance numbers you provided, you should be all set. You really want to avoid having something like 2 ohms on the left side and 8 ohms on the right side - grossly imbalanced. I don't see any problems with what you're going to run.

Onkyo TX-DS484 Receiver

Did you set all your parameters (see manual, page 15)? After that, you can then also change the levels of each speaker (page 16) also.
