The radio either does not have the yellow power wire connected(constant 12v) or the wire is connected to a switched source and when the key is turned off the radio has no backup power. You will need to pull the radio out and verify the yellow wire is not connected to switched voltage and connected to constant power. It is also possible that they have the red and yellow wires mixed up. Remember yellow constant power and red is switched power(with ignition key). And also disconnect your negative battery cable when working on the electrical system of your vehicle...you may short something out and damage your vehicle's electrical system or head unit.

Why is it that when i turn on the stereo the backlight is too dim i cannot see what radio station that i tuned in.

You probably have burned out bulb(s) behind the display. Unless you are good at desoldering and soldering, it is recommended you have them replaced by a professional.

When i preset my radio stations 1-6 while the power is still to the system memory of stations will stay but when the car stereo power is turn off for any amount of time and sterio is turn back on all...

Make sure the yellow wire is connected to a source that still has voltage when the key is turned off. The yellow wire controls the memory of the deck.

How do you set stations and clock

1.Select the radio band and tune in a desired radio station you wish to store in the preset memory.
2 .Press and hold any one of the Preset buttons (1 through 6) for at least 2 seconds until the station frequency on the display blinks.
3. Press the Preset button into which you wish to store the station while the frequency display is blinking (within 5 seconds). The display stops blinking once the station has been memorized. The display shows the band, preset No. with a triangle (9) and station frequency memorized

Manually change radio stations?

Here is how to manually tune your radio.
1 Press the SOURCE button until a radio
frequency appears in the display.
2 Press the BAND button repeatedly until the
desired radio band is displayed.
Each press changes the band:
→ F1(FM1) → F2(FM2) → AM
3 Press the TUNE button repeatedly until "DX
SEEK" and "SEEK" disappear from the display.
NOTE
The initial mode is DX SEEK.
4 Press the g DN or f UP button to move
downward or upward one step respectively until
the desired station frequency is displayed.
NOTE
The ST indicator or STEREO indicator appears on the
display when a Stereo FM station is tuned in

How do I preset the stations for an Alpine TDA-7547 car Stereo. This is an older stereo and setting the stations is not intuitive.

Select the station you want. Then hold down one of the 6 preset buttons for a couple seconds. When the station ID flashes, release the button and it should be saved.

Car radio

On the face of the stereo is a * button. Push this button then use the numbers on the face of the stereo to go directly to that station. Example, my favorite classical station is 90.7. Push the * then 907. This station will appear in display. Then push and hold for about 5 seconds the preset button you would like this station to be. The stereo will momentarily blink to a different station then come back. Station set.
