your first ever PC?, no model told, PAV means zero..
The numb lock key is it ,same for 40 years but but but.....
but on some lame tiny small laptop/pads
the keyboard is shrunk below the standard size and is not 104+ keys
to do that magic (buy real 104 usb keyboard and live better/)?
they used a wild and woolly, Fn roller over keys.
the keyPAD is missing but is moved to center(ish) of keyboard.
to do that all this is 100% custom to HP ! HW/SW ALL.
to make that work takes just 2 things
  • RTM , read the manual on just this secret PC, and bingo there you learn this. (SHRUNKEN PC'S)
  • or the drivers for this unique keyboard or missing so get them at HP.com (using real model or service tag first) and matched to you unstated OS. w7? w8, what?
IF ASKING WHAT A REAL NUMLOCK KEY DOES?
GOOGLE IT, 40 YEARS OF ANSWERS- UNCHANGING.
THE PAD SET TO NUM'S IS FOR 10 KEY ACCOUNTANTS.

Where is the product key for 14-b109wm sleekbook
The key unfortunately is part the motherboard. Every manufacturer started to do this A) to prevent piracy B) Windows 8 was introduced at that time as the next Microsoft OS.

Same goes even for Windows 10 laptops and desktops.

Only exception is that if you custom build the computer and buy windows 8, the license/ *********** came on a card to use for that particular computer, cause it injects key or *********** itself to it.

As for Windows 10, you can use the Windows 8 key or 7 key to activate it if your laptop/desktop has a key.

If not you need to buy it, then it injects the ***********/license to the board if it is custom built.

If you are installing Windows 8 or 10 for the first time, normally it will not ask you, but if it does, you can skip it and select 8/10 home and it will automatically activate it once connected to the internet. Most computers that you buy from best buy or Microsoft store will have the home edition windows put on there.

If you got a business class computer like a lenovo, you will get 8/10 pro edition.

But if you are in the data center, have either a laptop/computer, you will have the enterprise version of windows on it.

The front USB header on the XW9400 board has a ground connected to pin #10. The USB standard #10 pin has nothing connected to it, so HP uses it to sense whether a connector is attached to the header.

I have a HP tx2120 laptop and it seems to nly turn on once in a blue moon. The power is on but nothing comes up on screen and the underneath gets extremely hot. sometimes when it has been on for about...
this is the problem it needs reflowing. will not boot with this not connecting properly, and leaving this laptop on for long times like this it will shut down as you are cooking the board. and that will damage the board and other parts. might just be a better idea to change the board, if using windows 10 you need to install the original windows with the same windows key that your windows 10 was upgraded with or you will need to buy a new windows key.

I have cordless key board i put a new battaries still doesnt work do you think the key board doesnt work
Hi,

To fix the problem,
please press the connect connect button on the bottom of the mouse and the connect button on the reciever and relaese both the buttons together. this would rest the wireless connection and then the mouse should work fine.

Key board not picking up letters when typing
check the connection at the back of your computer. unplug and replug usually gets it. also check the port where you connect the key board for dusts and dirt that may have caused it to malfunction.

My HP Pavillion keyboard lights up but the screen is blank what can i do?
Press num lock key of key board if num lock led is on/off then your cpu gives display to monitor Then make sure monitor cable is connected properly to cpu vga port.
When you power up the cpu press F8 key then enter in "enable vga mode" Then go to start->control panel->display->settings.
Change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
Then check.
But if num lock led is not on/off and left constant then you need to open cpu cabinet.
Refix RAM memory.Pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes.
Clean dust from all parts.
Reattach processor and it's fan.
Make sure motherboard is not ground with cabinet.
Open motherboard from cabinet and try outside of cabinet.

The keyboard of my hp dv1000 does not work. some
It sounds like your keyboard may have bit the dust !
If you can get to a DOS Prompt or word pad to check, I will explain.
Start with going across all the top key's. If you find one that does not work, go directly below it and see if that key left to right works. If not your connection is corrupt and the keyboard should be replaced. Example: Type Y and U if the U does not work go below to the J and K, if they don't work, 1 or more of the integrated connections are bad and you will more that likely see at-least 8-10 more key's in that region that also don't work.
Keyboard for the DV1000 units can be purchased for $16.00 to $30.00 US. on (ebay)
Replacing the key board is not a bad job, but will require a little time.
