SOURCE: How do I remove the washable filter to clean it on my Dyson bagless vacuum?

As you are looking down at the base of the machine (viewing from the front) you will notice a yellow button on the right side just inside of the the wheel area. push up the button to release the casing that holds the hepa filter and the spongy filter. You can see a diagram on your machine which shows this process. After you take the casing from the machine, the round housing which houses the 2 filters will come out of this casing as you pull it off. You can grab the spongy filter and pull it our of the casing. Rinse both filters as shown in diagrams on the side of the casing. Do not use soapy water, just warm water and squeeze out the spongy filter after each new soaking. Let the filters dry for 12 hours and then replace in your unit and enjoy the refurbished air movement. It does suggest that you clean these filters every 6 months.

SOURCE: where is the belt on a dyson upright vacuum?

There is no drive belt on this model - its a cylinder pull along model.
If there's a problem with the turbo brush you can flip open the base of it by removing the screws, check that the toothed belt is in place and there is no clogs of dirt between the turbine and the brush bar.

SOURCE: DYSON DC17 ABOUT 4 YEARS OLD. I HAVE TWO FILTERS

Hi there! This is John from Jerry's Vacuum Sales in Modesto Ca. Are you using any type of carpet fresh product on your carpet? If so the fine powder is leaking onto the filters and causing them to clog. Discontinue use and over time the problem will correct itself.
I hope this was helpful.

SOURCE: Dyson stopped working.

Have you tried starting it again? It might have stopped because it overheated and now that it has cooled it should start again. If not, then possibly the power switch or power cord has failed.

SOURCE: Does my Dyson Animal vacuum have a hepa filter?

The HEPA filter is not a cleanable item. The pre-motor filter is the washable one.

How do you clean the filter on dyson 25

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC25 has two filters engineered to last the lifetime of the machine in normal use. We'd recommend washing these at least once every 3 months using cold water without detergent. Make sure both filters are totally dry before replacing them - this could take at least 24 hours.

If you'd like further help or advice, please contact our experts directly by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

My DC35 keeps cutting out ie every 10secs. The filter has been washed and the machine is clear of any obstructions. The battery is fully charged - Graham

Hi Graham, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC35 seems to be cutting out frequently in use, and you're confident that there are no blockages and the filter is clean, it would be worth contacting us directly for some further advice.

When you have your machine fully charged and easily to hand, our experts will take you through some diagnostic checks to determine which part may be at fault. If your DC35 is within our 2-year cordless guarantee period, and has been used and maintained as described in the user guide, we should be able to replace the affected part for you.

You can reach us by calling the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

My vacuum was making a funny noise and had a bad smell

Hi John, it's Jack at Dyson.

Most Dyson vacuums include a thermal cutout which shuts the machine down for protection if it starts to overhead. You should find it will run again after it's cooled down for around 2 hours.

This is likely to have been caused by a blockage, or because the filter is overdue for a wash. To prevent this from happening again, please follow the steps shown in our Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc08/dc08-standard/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-won-t-switch-on-or-cuts-out/my-machine-cut-out-whilst-i-was-using-it/how-to-wash-filters/check-the-floor-tool

In normal use, the filter needs to be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video attached. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for both sections of the filter to dry completely before replacing it.

If you'd like some further help from our experts after you've given both of these steps a try, please call the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 01-475-7109 (IE).

Dyson filters smell after cleaning

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're concerned about your DC15.

If the filter smells, you may want to take a look at the video below to make sure you're washing it as we recommend. Please use cold water without detergent, and make sure the filter is totally dry before replacing it - allow at least 12 hours. You may find it helps to place it somewhere warm, such as in an airing cupboard, or by a radiator. This should be done at least once every 3-6 months.

This should help, but if you're still concerned, please give our customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US), so we can provide further assistance.

Best wishes,

In normal use, you should wash the filters in your DC33 at least once every 3 months. Use cold water without detergent - do not wash in a dishwasher or washing machine. Allow at least 24 hours for the filters to dry completely before replacing them in the machine - it may help to place them somewhere warm, such as by a radiator.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC23 Animal. If the turbinehead doesn't seem to be working as well as usual, this may be due to a blockage. The filter may also need a wash.

Hi has the dyson dc14 got a filter on the bottom ,side that *** off to the top filter thanks .

Hi there,

I'm not sure if I've understood your question correctly, but the DC14 has one washable filter, and one filter which does not require maintenance.

The washable filter is located in a compartment on top of the cyclone assembly - under normal use, this should be washed at least once every 3-6 months. Use cold water without detergent, and allow up to 12 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it. For guidance on washing the filter, please see the video linked below:

If you need any further assistance, please get in touch with us directly by calling us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).
