Electric dryer no start does nothing

Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage.

CHECK THERMAL SHUT OFF THERMOSTAT USUALLY LOCATED ON THE BLOWER. for OHMS or resistance with a meter. Should show a closed circuit. Ohms WHEN THIS FUSE BLOWS IT WILL SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING.

NEXT Test the PUSH start switch with meter for OHMS. Should show OHMS when pushed in or on start, and no ohms or infinity when in off position.

If you hear a humming/clicking sound from motor area you more than likely have a bad motor.

Try this test out to see if u have weak windings or relay/capacitor on motor.

Open the dryer door and turn by hand the drum while machine is on ON position. And you or someone else presses the door engagement switch in. If it starts up then u have bad windings

Another thing to check is the belt safety switch. With a multi meter.

Especially if u just replaced the belt. The belt safety switch is attached to the Tensioner and motor. IT LOOKS LIKE A DOOR SWITCH SOMEWHAT a little black pc of plastic with 2 prongs going into it. Sits at bottom of motor. Under the Tensioner. Attach meter clips to the 2 prongs on switch, Then when the little white push button is pressed in it should show continuity and none when released.

Lastly check ur DOOR SWITCH for continuity with a meter when the button is pushed in the (on/Door closed position,) it may have gone bad.

SOURCE: dryer runs belt not broken and tumbler doesn't spin

the belt may not be broken but it might be stretched past its limits check and see if the electric motor is spinning when the belt is off but my personal suggestion is take a digital picture of the belt on the pulley and tensioner so you can reference it when putting it back together

SOURCE: dryer won't spin belt good

Hi,

Your problem says dryer but the category says washer. I wrote this answer thinking the problem was washer. Sorry but I haven't had opportunity to fix my dryer before so can't help you there. If however your problem is the washer (or is anyone else is reading this), please read on... you should find some ideas here.

First you have to check the error code. If your washer does not have a digital display you have to do the following:

1. press any button to "wake up" the machine.
2. press and hold the start and pause buttons.
3. count the flashing lights.
a) first the five lights plus the start light will flash. Count.
b) then the start light will flash. Count.
4. error code is E +# of times in a + total # of flashes in a and b.

Example: flashes start light plus all five lights 4 times, then a pause, then start light alone 3 times. Error code is E47.

There are lots of error codes but E47 and E43 are both door problems. Check out the following document for a lengthy (but understandable) troubleshooting guide. E47 and E43 both say to do Test 9, which is test the resistance of the PTC. If it's not working then you have to replace the door latch assembly (about $80), if it reads around 1500 Ohms you have to replace the control board (about $250).
http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Webster/134542000.pdf

First, let me say that I have no idea how to test the PTC but it can't be hard with a standard multimeter (I will be doing this tomorrow with my Dad).

Second, the removal to access the door latch assembly is stupid easy - check out the following YouTube.

Third, if you have a different error code just look up the test in the manual document above.

Hope that helps!

I have a Kenmore gas dryer Model # 22000. It heats but the drum isn't turning. What could be the problem?

When your dryer stopped spinning it is most likely caused by a broken belt, you can reach to the drum and try turning it by hand and if it spins easily, the belt is probably broken or slipped off. A not spinning dryer can be also due to a faulty drum roller. In rare cases the motor is faulty and the dryer won't spin.

I got this from https://www.electrafixbc.ca/appliances/dryer.html
Check it out for more info on your dryer drum issue. Good luck!

Dryer won't spin

Someone is going to have to get inside to see if the belt (it should have one around the drum) is broken or the motor that drives it is seized, etc.

Need to see if drum turns and if too freely my money would be the belt.

Kenmore Heavy Duty Plus Dryer 86273100 drum won't spin

How could the belt be in working order if the drum doesn't spin? Check to see if the belt has come off the motor. If the motor runs but your dryer doesn't spin, the belt is off. If the motor runs with the belt on but it still won't spin then you'll have a lot of black smoke because your drum is jammed. In other words, there are a number of things that could be wrong, but not very many.

Dryer won't spin. I had something heavy in it and then it stopped spinning.

It is possible that a belt could have came off or broken. You will need to turn off power and remove rear cover to investigate.

Not sure what the "face"

the face of the dryer is just the front section of it, you need to do that to look under the drum and you'll see the belt and the idler ,, if the belt is lose or broken, replace it ,, if you need more help just reply to this feed and I'll help you more if you need it ,, Good Luck

Dryer wont spin

About 90+% of the time when a dryer won't spin it is a broken/slipped belt.
If the dryer makes some niose when activated, then the motor is turning, which exonerates the
motor, leaving just the belt - the belt may have slipped off a (possibly broken) pulley.

Drum won't spin on it's own but spins freely by hand. Was slow to start spinng before. Took front off but can not see belt at all, if it has one?

drive belt is normally accessed from the rear of the machine or if sealed rear from underneath(bottom) the belt is normally easier to get off the drive motor pulley first . Sounds like your belt is either already broken or has come away from drive unit or drum .
