Pressure relief valve on hot water heater

Yes, these p & t valves (pressure and temp) are available from heating supply houses as well as at most big box home improvement stores. You will need to shut the water off to the hot water tank, and drain it down below the level of the valve. There are two common sizes of these valves as far as insertion depth, so you will need to check this before buying the part, or buy both and return the unused one... Hope this helps.

Hello. My dishwasher (Miele G 579 SC) does not fill water enough. When filling is done I must fill manually with a bucket to get water to a sufficient level. What might be the problem? Kind regards...

Hi

When the Dishwasher won't fill you'll need to check for the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the float switch assembly. When the water fills your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As the float reaches a certain threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and on other occasions due to float switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the dishwasher for any blockages. If the hose is not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the water will not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve is bad and should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. However, if the valve is fine then the float switch assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Turned off the hot water to fix a leaking tap. now the tap has no hot or cold water and the hot water tank valve is leaking?

It sounds like two problems.
Problem 1) Clog inside faucet or clog inside pipes at faucet
Remove supply tubes leading to faucet and see if problem is inside pipes or inside faucet.
My bet is clog inside faucet.

If you have galvanized pipe that meets copper pipe, this can be trouble spot.

Problem 2) Water heater leak ... you say tank valve is leaking? Is that cold-water shut-off valve? Or tank drain valve? Or TP valve?

If cold water shut-off is leaking, then replace shut off.

If tank drain valve is leaking, then check if plastic valve is cracked. If drain valve is cracked, then replace with a brass valve from Home Depot. If plastic valve breaks off, then use hammer and screwdriver to gently chip out the broken plastic valve. New valve threads need teflon tape to seal pipe. If valve is just dripping, then put garden-hose cap over end of valve and screw down tight.

If TP valve is leaking, then replace with same temperature and pressure rating.
New TP valve threads need teflon tape to seal pipe.

Problem 3) If pressure is low all over house:
Buy pressure gauge at hardware store that screws onto hose connection.

Test pressure on outdoor spigot.
Open faucet and check if pressure drops. This says if problem is inside pipes that enter house.

Test pressure on water heater drain valve.
This says if pressure problem is before -or- after water heater.

If problem is before the water heater, then shut-off valve located on cold water line is suspect.
If problem is after water heater, it could be in hot water outflow pipe on top of water heater, or a nearby elbow.

Remove hot water line leading from water heater and check pressure. This says if problem is where hot water leaves tank.
Read articles above about clogs inside water lines.

How do check if the siloned valve works or not

One way to test a solenoid valve is to remove the two wires from the valve's electrical terminals and connect (from a known good source) its operating voltage to these terminal leads.

If the valve makes a clicking sound that tells you the piston is moving. You'll need to connect water to it to see if it allows water to pass through when the piston moves.

This test will both verify the electrical and mechanical operation of a solenoid valve.

If the valve fails either test, often disassembling the valve and thoroughly cleaning it will resolve the problem. There may also be o-rings, washers, springs, etc. which might need replacing.

Toto fill valve continual problem, new toilet

There are cheep fill valves and ther better built fill valves, so make sure you buy aa quality fill valve. Also buy a pressuer gauge at ahard ware store and check water pressure level at a faucet outlet. Screw gauge onto water fauct leave a little room for air to escape when water is drippng out tighten the hose bib on the gage turn on the faucet and read the pressure. If it's more than 50 PSI you need to lower the water pressuer. I need to know if your on a, on site underground well,or are on city water to tell you what you need to do to to fix this problem. If there is one. thanks for using Fix-ya if you want more info post here.

The washer won't fill with cold water. Disconnected the hose from the washer and turned on the cold water, no water. How do I replace the valve in the wall?

your first step would be go and buy a new valve. by that way, buy a roll of teflon tape as well (the white, very thin one). then turn off your main water valve and open up one working valve to release the pressure then take a bucket and place it under the valve to replace now screw off the old valve. remeber hwo it was fitted. now take some of the teflon tape and wind it arround the new valves mounting thread. this will do the sealing, so the water does not take its way thru the mounting. now screw in the new valve. pull it tight. take a second view wether you did it right. keep the bucket under the valve open main water valve. check your new valve. everything sealed? water running when open? YES? Great! You did it. dont forget to remove the bucket, you are done

Loud rattling grinding noise when pump is running, no water enters the machine.

Make sure the water is turned on to the machine, if it is then it sounds like a faulty water fill valve, just replace the fill valve, they can sometimes be cleaned but I would never trust one, they can always stick in the on position later and flood your house. Check to see if the valve is geting 120v ac before replaceing the valve, if it's getting voltage and no water is flowing then the valve is bad. You will need to borrow or buy a multi-meter for this test.

Kenmore 110.92274100 Rear Panel Access - Cold Water Problem

the top panel comes off via 2 screws that hold control panel on
once this done yuo can lift the whole hob and front and side panel to expose the workings
the cold water valve has a filter inside the water entry so to check this just take off the hose to the machine and look inside hole
if this is ok then you may need to replace water inlet valves
i presume you have high pressure water if not buy valve that is for low water pressure
