Thin white line (hoz) across screen (gets on my freaking nerves) this is after i bought it DOA and had to use mini PE to get hard drive to work and then loaded VISTA 5 times and finly it loaded without a error. i have a new hard drive comming but i cant get rid of white line 4 inches from bottom of screen

T con board is responsible for the image you see on screen as well as any anomalies.

You got a bad LCD screen. no immediate resolution aside from getting the LCD replaced. if your system still has warranty call Dell for replacement.

A chip died in the LCD screen. Definitly take it back or contact the manufacturer for a warranty replacement.

It could be one of three things, the first two could be an easy fix, the last one calls for a qualified repair person and could cost you

-first, The lcd cable assembly is loose, make sure it's seated properly. if problem still exists try to Disconnect the monitor cable from the computer and turn the monitor on leave it plugged in to the electric socket.it will display a diagnostic colorbar are the lines still there. if not your problem might be a cable or video card. if they are still there have a technician evaluate the monitor.

-second, The inverter card may need to be reseated

-last, The lcd has a thin line crack and needs to get replaced

It would be helpful to know about the inner workings of an lcd screen and how to access them. It shouldn't be to difficult if your computer savvy. I want to caution you about getting shocked. an lcd still has power stored in capacitors. you should be able to drain those capacitors by leaving the monitor on and unplugging it from the electrical plug wait 10 sec or until all lights go out on the monitor.

If none of this works then Your monitor is defective, and nothing you can do to fix it... Call where you got it from for a replacement

Your Display cable (inside your monitor) needs to be replaced.

I would look on ebay to try and find the part and then take it to a local tech to replace it for you as I would not recommend anyone take apart a monitor (LCD OR CRT) if you had never done so before.

OR, Buy a new monitor.

The unit has bad drive ic's,which is part of the lcd panel.It is not cheap to fix.

It sounds like the mainboard or CPU died. Generally the hard drive is fairly easy to remove, look on the bottom or the side for a screw labeled "HDD", which should uncover the hard drive area.

Looks like a faulty screen as other guy said in other post :(

sounds like you have a vertical sweep problem. Where the fault lies cpuld be the vertical output IC the verticle b+ feed, could be the capacitors in the vertical circuit?? Your gonna need to troubleshoot thr vrtical circuit if your not a tech thin my advise is to take the set to a pro for sn est. Good Luck
