Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Almost always, a Bass guitar would require a hefty amp quite different in terms of construction design to most guitar amps.
Offhand, the problem would be internal on the electronics board. Most likely culprit if it will power on but no sound would be the final/output transistors.
If there is no power indicator at all, then it would most likely be the power supply section.
Any competent electronics tech should be able to perform the repairs since the parts (to my knowledge) are readily available from most electronics parts stores including Radio Shack and **** Smith.
