I don't know which game you are playing but make sure you are sign in. it happened to me and as soon I did sign in, viola! make sure that your game is updated and internet connection is strong.
you probably need to update the game. Xbox will sign you out until you receive the update to that game. once it has been updated you should be able to play the game online.
