SOURCE: my mp600 keeps saying close inner cover-which is closed
I had the same issue, turning off didn't solve it.
There's a plastic flap the width of the print tray just inside that I flipped up and it solved this problem. It is directly in front of the ink tanks. I'm assuming we flipped it down and forgot about it. It seems it needs to stay up, although you wouldn't notice it when it flips down when you close the top, as it closes just fine with it down. It's easy to overlook. This took me a few hours to realize.
The top of the flap has a half circle cut out of it in the middle.

Had the same problem myself but discovered that I had previously moved the inside flap down when I put the ink in. I moved this back into position and bingo! (If you make sure all the covers are closed then look into the printer where the paper exits you will see the flap that moves up and down, this must be in the up position)

We had this problem. It turned out there was actually a piece of paper stuck in the printer! It wasn't so easy to see it from the rear.
We removed the paper from the front by taking out the ink cartridge first. Turned the printer back on and everything was fine.

here is a website that tells how to correct jams and also shows some pictures of all the door openings, It sounds like the cover that holds you bulk paper, sometimes there is a lid on top of it. it may not be seated properly.
hope this helps
